1.0 out of 5 stars ...or actually 1.5 stars
This is perhaps the weakest of Slade's albums together with the previous "Rogues gallery". The production is so time typical it might be hard to find a better example of the sound and production back in the 1980's. With hindsight it's no wonder this was the original line up's last album because the song writing just isn't there anymore. After so many years of excellent...

The production is so time typical it might be hard to find a better example of the sound and production back in the 1980's. With hindsight it's no wonder this was the original line up's last album because the song writing just isn't there anymore. After so many years of excellent songs no one can blame Holder/Lea for running low on inspiration. But I wouldn't say that this album totally stinks and should be avoided at any costs because under the massive layer of keyboards you can actually hear some references to the old happy days, for example in "Me and the boys". Maybe 1 star is a bit cheap but in comparison to other Slade albums this is not good.

4.0 out of 5 stars keyboards!, June 30, 2003

don't buy this if you're into heavy guitars, but otherwise go for it! in my opinion a highly underrated final 'real' slade album, with some crackin memorable tunes ('that's what friends are for'); almost melancholic, as if bidding their final farewell (well noddy did anyhow).

4.0 out of 5 stars apart from rouges gallery slades best album by far, October 26, 1999
This review is from: You Boyz Make Big Noize (Audio CD)
Listen to this album even if your not a slade fan, rouges gallery is a must for everyone, but this comes aclose second, miles apart from their early glam rock material of the 70S
