EXTREMELY HORRIBLE SOUND QUALITY - WHY??,
By
This review is from: You Brought the Sunshine (Audio CD)
What was this mastered from? -- And on what, a boombox?! The sound is so shrill, like an old cassette tape that squeals on the highs, while the lows and midrange is extremely muffled. Those who possess old cassettes that have oxidized know exactly the sound I'm describing. I cannot believe this record company had the audacity to release something of this inferior sound quality. I could take an old vinyl lp and produce MUCH better results than this, running it through my computer software....And while I'm on the subject -- if the record company could not locate the original master tapes why NOT use a vinyl lp?? Or a pristine cassette. With the sophisticated technology available (cheaply, I might add) there is no excuse for this. I wasted [money] on this garbage. ONLY ONE STAR BECAUSE IT IS THE CLARK SISTERS AND I LOVE THEM, BUT OTHERWISE NO STARS AT ALL. I was so looking forward to playing this and hearing crisp cd quality sound -- WRONG. Let me reiterate if I haven't made it very clear: ...poor sound quality. Avoid this (and the other re-release, as I am sure it cannot sound any better) at all costs until they remaster this in a manner deserving of the Clark Sisters' talent. I will be sure to contact Sound of Gospel Records about this horrendous recording -- and I will be seeking a refund. SOG, SHAME ON YOU.

Dissapointed at the quality,

I was looking forward to having this album on CD because it's a favorite. However, the quality of sound is extremely poor. It sounds very muffled and unprofessional. I'm disappointed at the quality. In considering purchasing this CD, you really have to weigh out if it's worth it to you to deal with the poor sound quality in order to just listen to the wonderful Clark Sisters sing or to just forget about it, because the sound just isn't worth the money. The purchaser must decide.

The Original's could-not have had this Bad a sound Quality. I would say the Blame go's to "Sounds of Gospel Records, who OBVIOUSLY could not have cared less about their work on this re-release. TOO-BAD, the Music is a MUST-HAVE! HEY, I bought it. Just thought I'd let you know the TRUTH.(Scotty knows good music!

Another Terrible Gospel Reissue,

I don't have a lot of reissued gospel CDs but the few I do have, it seems like the companies that reissue them use the same type of analog equipment to master the albums to the CD. I have experienced the same problems with some of Tramaine Hawkin's reissues. The sound quality on this Clark Sisters CD is just AWEFUL. My vinyl record sounds better than this! It is really a crime to issue CDs of such poor quality. Skip this one!

Ok , Not the greatest quality, but WOW!,

I bought this CD and the other Clark re-release. Now granted these other folks are right about the sound quality, but it actually makes the music carry a little bit more, which is kinda cool. I love the music and, personally, the quality could be much worse. The quality, actually, puts you back in the 80s, when this stuff was made, or so I think. And it doesn't hold back how powerful the ladies' voices were. The first track alone is worth buying the CD. Go ahead, buy the CD! It will uplift you and make you feel good!

What a shame. I agree so much with the person who first added thier comments. I don't understand why Mr. Armen Boladian will not remaster these albums. This stuff is so sought out. Only if you really need this item get it, otherwise if you know somebody with a usb turntalbe and a good clean copy of the album, that would be better as far as sound quality goes. I got this cd because of my love for the girls. I had the album but lost it during a move. I hope somebody who has heart remaster this material. I dont' now what thing that the company duplicated this from, but it sounds so "boot legish". I was so dissapointed also with one of Mattie Moss Clarks CD. The CD Crucified with Christ, you only get 28 seconds of "Remember Me" and them BAM It's gone. I do not like to complain but this cd is really bad. There ought to be some law. I only gave it 2 stars because it's the greatest gospel group of all time. YOu decided......The material get's 10 stars. But the quality, well ....tacky! Horrid! Awful! Terrible! Tsk Tsk

This is one of the definative Clark Sisters Albums/CD. I had the original on wax and it was GREAT! I rate this a "1" only because it contains the Clark Sisters.... Too bad it's marred by such a lackadaisical, mediocre, non-chalant attitude by their former record company "sound of gospel" Who need to be re-named "Scam of Gospel" If they had any integrity, they would never have released a landmark album of this magnitude with such piss-poor effort. God bless the Clark Sisters.. May SOG be plagued by the worse things imaginable...

I bought this even AFTER reading the other reviews about the quality-I know, shame on me! But I LOVED this album when it came out and listened to it daily while in college. After receiving the CD, I have to tell you that the tape I made from the original album over 12 years ago sounds better than this-cracks and all. The ladies sound like chipmonks, totally distorting the quality of their voices, which is so sad as their voices are beautiful. The tempo actually sounds faster if that is possible. I gave the rating a 2 only because it's the Clark Sisters-otherwise, I would have rated in with a 1. I won't listen to the CD, I'll use the tape I have and "settle" for that. Too bad!!! Definitely don't waste your time!!!

This album is wonderful,
for any of those that remember true music then there wont be any complaint. This album was done during a time when all of the electronics were not needed or used too much. Real instruments and REAL SINGING were the tools of recording especially when it came to gospel music. People speak on quality but if u come from a time of realness then u will appreciate what true music was and should be all about. Not about all of the fake quality singers that are out now that sound one way on CD and live they sound absolutely terrible like most R&B and gospel singers of today. Back then what u heard was exactly what u got or better. No substitutes. |
