Gospel music is heard in so many pop culture venues now, it is probably hard for one to remember when it was not. Historically, however, that was not the case as short as 20 or 30 years ago. The first big hit played beyond the church circuit was "O Happy Day!" in 70s. "You Brought the Sunshine," is arguably the second one. With Twinkie Clark's delightful and rich soprano belting over one of the most intriguing and driving guitar base lines, the song kept feet thumping and moving, even in disco dance floors. You were having a party to music that wasn't vulgar, but did not sacrifice anything in terms of danceable rhythms. This one is a pop and gospel classic. Hard to find original album; the live remake that is played on a lot of gospel radio today is not nearly as good---the remake lacks the excellent base rhythm intensity. You won't regret this purchase---it's a must have for true traditional Gospel music lovers, as well as those come-latelys who love crossover gospel.
