When we decided to adopt, my wife and I bought all sorts of adoption guides, but "You Can Adopt" was by far the best. Adoption can be a rocky road and this book, with its frank advice and encouraging tone, gives you a very accurate picture of what to expect. It really covers everything, from mundane issues like costs to highly nuanced ones, like how to handle the emotional roller coaster ride that most adoptive families are forced to endure. It saw us through from beginning to happy ending.

I've already bought several copies for people I know who are considering adoption. It's well-researched, well-organized and full of great stories - real stories. I'm an adoptive mother already and still it touched me deeply. Adoption can be a daunting subject, but this book puts all the questions, all the debates, all the options in one place. Use this book. Buy it for friends. Trust it.

We have been through the adoption process twice already, so we can't speak about how useful this book is for the new parent researching adoption. We do like how the book is organized, and we like the positive and encouraging language (some adoptin books are surprisingly negative and full of warnings). We also like that our daughter's picture is featured in the book! Yes, we are biased in rating this book. Our family is a testament to the joyful blessing of adoption. You can adopt too!

This is a wonderful book for those who are new to adoption. They did a great job of explaining each avenue available to parents as well as breaking down terms, costs, proccesses, etc. After reading this, I feel like I have an idea of how and where to start.

We were just starting to look into adoption and feeling completely overwhelmed when I came across this book. It is exactly what we needed. It lays out all the options in the adoption process start to finish. And what I like best is that it gives you the basic info you need, and then it has stories from real people who have been there. It's a reference book, but also very personal. The best of both worlds. I have also independently verified much of the info in the book, so I think it's very accurate.

We simply can't say enough about this book, which was our roadmap to adoption. It stands far above the others in this field in its clarity and helpfulness- as close as you will get to having two friends talk you step by step through the process. You can tell the authors really took the time to stand in their readers' shoes and make sure that the information they were conveying was helpful, the tone supportive and positive without being cheesy, and the advice being shared practical and directly from the mouths of those with first-hand experience. Deciding to adopt can be overwhelming with emotions running high, this book is sensitive to the need for straightforward advice from a grounded source. We have given this book to many friends who are considering adoption and they have had the same wonderful experience with it. You Can Adopt makes a daunting process feel doable and, most importantly, the goal of becoming adoptive parents feel attainable.

This books was an excellent resource, whether you are unsure of adoption or ready to get started. It presented information in a clear, honest, and hopeful manner. The links and resources helped me decide what situation would be the best fit for our family, without pushing one path or another. By the end of this book, I knew where to go to learn more, and I felt confident for the first time that we CAN make this work.

YOU CAN ADOPT is practical, down to earth, accessible. Best of all, it is a fine balance of "realistic" and "positive." In contrast to some other commonly recommended texts on adoption, this one will not leave the reader defeated before s/he has begun. It is a reminder that adoption is DOABLE. Anecdotes, links, "Straight Talk" snippets, "Reality Checklists," and "Adoption 101" overviews are all well-delineated, thoughtfully categorized, and user-friendly.

This is a great starter book on adoption and adoptive parenting. It can be rounded out by several more adoption books, but it gives a great overview and perspective on the adoption journey.

You Can Adopt is an essential, warm-hearted, intelligent guide to adoption. It is an excellent resource for those who wish to adopt and an excellent reference for those who support others in the adoption process.
