Another great book by Robert Schuller that focuses on exactly what the title says. Gives some great ways to boost your confidence and lots of good advice on being a more positive person. Written in an easy to read style, it's by far one of the best books I've read on the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life!, July 7, 2004
This review is from: You Can Become the Person You Want to Be (Paperback)
Not hyperbole, but the truth. My father had a copy of this book in his library. Stumbling upon this book was probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Reading the stories the author presents can't help but motivate you to pursue your dream. It's not preachy -- and not too religious -- it's just a great book that is easy to read, and will inspire you to achieve success.

Because of this book, I decided to leave the engineering world behind and pursue my dreams of being an animator / cartoonist. I'm MUCH happier now than I ever have been, and it's all because of being inspired by the stories of success in this book. Taking the first step in any radical change is the toughest -- but this book is by your side, and will help you along the way. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can do it!, August 13, 2011
By
A seminal classic You Can Become the Person You Want to Be by Robert H. Schuller delves into strategies that empower individuals to succeed. Through personal examples, anecdotal sayings, and a simple approach, Schuller visits these universal truths that he calls possibility thinking.

According to Schuller, the first step is to analyze your situation and realize who is to blame. The common is individual's circumstances, the system we live in, or just bad luck. Most persons are limited by a self imposed cage, these are why not it can't be done, rather than simply doing it. Taking personal responsibilities and doing something about your circumstances begins with you.
Henry Ford was fond of saying, "Think you can, think you can't; either way you'll be right." Schuller goes on to state that "there is an abundance of scientific evidence that an individual's mental picture of himself, more than any other factor, sets the ultimate boundaries of his achievements." A strong self image creates an abundance of inner self confidence.

Next is that Enthusiasm is the winning ingredient. One example given is that "A dull knife, no longer able to cut; a clouded window, no longer admitting light; a loose guitar string, no longer sounding and humming", you get the point that the key ingredient is to have a idea, a vision, and boundless enthusiasm.

In the musical play 1776, George Washington asks three profound questions: Is anybody there? Is anybody listening? Does anyone care? These are important questions to search for meaning, but with prayer+possibility thinking = success. Keep in mind that prayer is not a scream or a scheme!
By setting goes, have inner perspective , and moving forward with possibility thinking, you too can become the person you want to be.
