Book Description

December 6, 2010
You Can Do It! shares the inspiration of Stanley A. Dashew-the man who anticipated the credit card economy. And then invented the tools that made it happen! Lessons for life and business leap from the story of his own challenges, starting with finding a job in the middle of the Great Depression. His approach remains as pertinent today as when he applied it over the course of ninety years. You Can Do It! delivers many insights to help you find your own successful solutions: • What to do when your expertise fails • Finding success in the process, as well as the outcome • How to pick your business and life partners • What to do when you hit a roadblock • 11 sure-fire problem-solving steps • 46 other tips for working toward success in various aspects of your life! "Stanley Dashew vividly describes how he has sailed through life, both literally and figuratively. As passengers on this voyage, we readers learn how to set goals, focus efforts, maintain standards, take risks, make sacrifices, and achieve success-in business and in life." -- Dr. Albert Carnesale, author, retired chancellor of UCLA and provost of Harvard University "Nuggets of wisdom gleaned from separate aspects of life-in finance, adventure, love, health, activism-all coalesce into one coherent vision of success." -- Terri Jentz, screenwriter and author, Strange Piece of Paradise "Enjoyable reading that finished with a 'wow!' A life-encompassing philosophy. I couldn't put it down, wanted more, didn't want it to end." -- Ronald B. Ziman, MD, FACP, FAAN, Internal Medicine and Neurology

5.0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to meeting Mr. Dashew in person January 13, 2011
By kit
Unlike most readers, I have had the wonderful opportunity to actually work with Stan Dashew, the philanthropist. As I got to know him, I also met Stan Dashew the inventor; Stan Dashew, the sailor; and Stan Dashew, the father. He is truly one of the most interesting and inspirational men I have had the privilege to know.

While the book does not come close to what one gets from meeting Mr. Dashew, for those who do not have that opportunity, it is the next best thing. It paints a vivid picture of a caring, generous, self-made man who is a true inventor--someone who has invented new uses for old products, who has invented new products to respond to previously unmet needs, and who has reinvented himself many times. Neither the aging process nor health challenges stop him from inventing; I can't wait to see what comes next.

Whether looking for adventure stories on the high seas, the biography of an inventor who revolutionized the credit card industry, or tips from someone who believes that nothing is impossible and a person with inspiration can accomplish very great things, the reader will enjoy Mr. Dashew's book. I congratulate him on its publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn from a Example January 10, 2011
Many dream to accomplish ONE major event in their lives. Stanley Dashew has had not only one, but many major events in his. That is what I find this book so incredible to experience. Step by step you get to experience his journey and to see his thought processes on how he creatively found solutions to his challenges in business, family and inventions. At 94 years old he never sits still. Imagine writing a book at 94 years old and still have ambition for more. That's called living! If you want inspiration. If you want to eliminate excuses. Than this is the book for you. That's why this book is properly titled "You CAN Do It!" All the best to your endeavors. Happy reading!
