5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST books about the subject!!
This book RIVALS Stan Lee's "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way"!!!
The sections/ chapters are logically placed.
Dan Jurgens is a TRUE veteran; his drawing is SOLID!!

a. The overlays are EXTREMLEY helpful
b. The illustrations are well drawn.
c. The section on inking/coloring is top notch.

This book is a MUST for beginners...

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT the book for aspiring young artists.
I have to say that I was disappointed in "You Can Draw Marvel Characters." While many of the illustrations are impressive, it provides little explanation and really seems to be merely an opportunity to show off and market the new Marvel comics to children. Its sections are rather shallow, spending little time on the rudiments and making only a vague showing of teaching...

This book is a MUST for beginners to advanced alike.

Old pros will find this book a useful reference especailly
as it deals with Writing, Pencilling, Inking, Coloring
to FINAL production.

The overlays alone are WORTH the price of the book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 12, 2006
This review is from: You Can Draw: Marvel Characters (Spiral-bound)
This is a very, VERY good book... i highly recomend it... it is a spiral bound book... which makes it easy to look at while drawing.... and there are many pages of characters with a plasticy see through page of the rough drawing, and right underneith is the finished product... i ordered 3 different books at the same time as this one... and i like this on the best thus far.

Its sections are rather shallow, spending little time on the rudiments and making only a vague showing of teaching children to draw. I would recommend Draw the Marvel Heros, which takes a much more patient, reassuring, hands-on approach to teaching children the rudimentsof drawing, and which will do doubt be more helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, December 12, 2006
This review is from: You Can Draw: Marvel Characters (Spiral-bound)
I bought it because I am absolutely terrible at drawing men, and just wanted a book of references, but I didn't expect as complete a guide as I got! It's fantastic for anyone who wants to learn to draw, or even for anyone who loves to draw and has been doing it for a while. The overlays, especially the huge two-page spread overlay, is so incredibly useful.

I fully recommend it! If you're looking for a comic drawing book, get this one!

This is definitly the best marvel drawing book that I purchased for my twins. It is easy to understand and breaks it down into steps. It also includes transparent tracing type pages that helps them. After only having it for one week they have already considerably improved on drawing characters. Drawing is their favorite hobby and this book will be used alot.

This was purchased for my nephew as a Christmas present. He used it immediately commenting that the instructions were simple and easy to follow. One suggestion - purchased the basic drawing tools listed at the beginning of the first chapter. This insures that you will be able to jump right in!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!, July 14, 2007
This review is from: You Can Draw: Marvel Characters (Spiral-bound)
Wow! This book is beautiful AND it really helps you to draw Marvel or any other character! A great guide for those starting in the world of drawing, and a good help for those who are farther along the path. The presentation is really breathtaking, the pages are big, colorful and detailed, and it includes transparent pages so you can see the rough work over the finished piece. By far the best "How to Draw Marvel Characters" book I've ever laid my hands on!
