Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

If kids have the patience for the excessive instructions (at least 10 minutes worth) in the beginning of this program, they'll enjoy playing the fun, but clunky, arcade-style games along with the appealing Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and gang. To collect the torn pieces of Peter Pan's treasure map, children explore six locations, each with a different theme. At Indian Village, for instance, kids match "totems" to tree trunks, collect as many different bird species as possible, and fly through rings. Each scene has items to recover, like totems, shells or balls, which lead to a third activity in the area. After the objects are collected, another torn map piece is provided, ultimately revealing the treasure's hiding place. Three difficulty levels and lots of activities help extend the program's playability. The games are fun, but awkward and limited to arcade-style pursuits. Children played the game all the way through, but few asked to play again.

3.0 out of 5 stars tinkerbell, May 4, 2003
This review is from: You Can Fly! with Tinker Bell (CD-ROM)
I found that the this was quite a difficult game in a number of areas. All the games have to be completed to get to the end which gives you a lot of different games many with a similar theme. There are five areas each containing three games and five jewels to find, two of which are easy to spot, one is hidden and the last two you win in the games. You must have five jewels to complete the third game. The games vary in difficulty with the children finding that dropping the boulders on the boats hard as they drop them over the boat not understanding that you must drop the boulder well ahead of the boat otherwise it will miss as when you drop the boulder the boat is moving and the boulder has a long way to fall.
Catching shaddows is also hard as you have to get rid of the pirates and then run out of time.
Catching coconuts is also difficult as you have to realise that you must move closer to the trees in order to catch them and can therfore not see all the trees that the coconuts may be in.
Using the keyboard in the simon says game is quite difficult as it is not easy to remember the up and down keys.
Yet there are games the kids really enjoyed like catching the gems and lighting the lanterns
The graphics are poor as the people are not done very well yet the backgrounds are quite lovely.
I also found there was quite a buildup for the end as you get the map and then you go to that spot watch a short animation complete a single puzzle and the game is finished, it was very disappointing a quite a letdown.
The advantages are in the number of minigames available, the disappontments are in the difficulty in control in some of the minigames and in the rather abrumpt end. Not something I would recomend for a 5 year old as there are a number of minigames they would find frustrating.

My daugher likes this game, although she has struggled in a few parts. Overall, it's pretty fun. She got the game when she was 5 and now at six, she plays it from time to time. I like that she can figure most of it out on her own.
