5.0 out of 5 stars Great! November 2, 2013
A fantastic guide to the basics of public speaking! I found Paul's book full of insight and wisdom gained from his long and successful speaking and teaching career. The book reads well, is entertaining, contains valuable inserts from various other experts in the field and addresses the essentials you need to know about public speaking. "Turning Question Time to Your Advantage" is the best chapter in the book - I have put Paul's advice to use - with excellent results. Gert Scholtz

5.0 out of 5 stars Profoundly helpful September 22, 2013

I'm a new author who needed to start doing talks about my own book and the spotlight used to scare me. I was unsure about this new environment.

Paul's book was recommended to me by a speaker-friend. Am I ever glad I read it! It provides so many practical tips, techniques and how-to's that were incredibly valuable for my talks. Paul's book helped to shift my mindset on many points around speaking. One of the most valuable things I learnt in this book is that the audience actually WANTS me to succeed so that they can relax and enjoy the talk. That alone shifted a lot of my worry and fear.

For anyone wanting to brush up or learn public speaking skills, this book is a MUST.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fear Not!!! September 3, 2011
I read Paul du Toit's new book, "Present with Confidence" and found it to be an excellent resource to help aspiring speakers overcome their biggest challenge - fear of speaking. It's unique in that it names the five biggest fears: 1) What will people think of me if I fail?; 2) What if I lose my way during my presentation?; 3) What if I don't have enough compelling, convincing content?; 4) What if I come undone during questions time?: and 5) What if they get bored while I'm speaking? and gives practical answers to eliminate each one. I also found the section on "Turning Question Time to Your Advantage" to be especially helpful for even seasoned speakers to stay in control of the Q&A session. This book is worth many times its cost to present with confidence and prevent embarrassment when speaking!
