Dr. Fred Schwarz is one of America s great heroes. In his 50 years of work in the United States, he trained a whole generation to recognize the evil and the danger of Communism at home and abroad. He was a major force in building the conservative anti-Communist movement and in supporting Ronald Reagan s goal of defeating the evil empire. --Phyllis Schlafly

America is at a crossroads. Nothing could be more important to our Nation s survival as a free republic than the ideas expressed in this book. Its publication brings afresh to a new generation the work of a pioneer scholar, Dr. Fred Schwarz, and his able successor, Dr. David Noebel, in a timely way that could save America from its impending moral and economic collapse. I was first stirred to apologetic action by Dr. Schwarz a half century ago. His messages against the encroachment of Socialism are as needed now as they were then. Every able Christian should carefully ingest and courageously act upon the message of this book. --Dr. Norm Geisler

An Australian doctor said, the three basic tenets of Communism are atheism, evolution, and economic determinism. Then he said, The three basic tenets of the American Public School system are atheism, evolution, and economic determinism. Four years later Dr. Fred Schwarz wrote his masterpiece "You Can Trust the Communists (to Be Communists)." The republication of this book could not be more timely as America decides whether to follow its Christian forebearers or once again test the poisonous waters of Marx, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Alinsky, and their swarming collectivist agents and useful idiots in their relentless attempt to dethrone God and destroy Capitalism. --Dr. Tim LaHaye

It has long been noted that the fall of the Iron Curtain did not spell the end of Communism. It is still alive and well, mainly in Western universities, and amongst many of our ruling elites. Because this ideology still has such a powerful hold, it would be premature to throw out your collection of anti-Communism books.

One such book was the 1960 volume by Dr Fred Schwarz. While copies of the original may be harder to find nowadays (although the 1962 edition I still own speaks of 750,000 copies in print), we can now easily find this volume again, thanks to the efforts of David Noebel of Summit Ministries in Colorado.

Fifty years on from when this volume was first released, Noebel has presented us with an expanded and revised edition of this classic work. All of the original work is still here, but at the end of each chapter by Dr Schwarz there is now a selection of titles for further reading.

And Noebel has added five new chapters of his own as well, along with an extensive bibliography at the end of the book. Noebel reminds us that Marxist ideology did not cease with the fall of the former Soviet Union. It is certainly quite active, and can be seen even in the current Obama administration.

Thus he offers important chapters on the direction America is now headed in the new millennium, and discusses how the socialists and progressives are keeping the Communist dream (or nightmare) alive. He also looks at the religious left, and leading figures such as Jim Wallis of Sojourners magazine, noting their role as fellow travellers, or "useful idiots" as Lenin put it.

Thus this second edition picks up where Schwarz left off, and takes us right up to the current situation.

Communism is not just an economic method of running a country. Always implemented by a small group of elite revolutionaries. it completely takes over a country - every aspect; the party sets up spies to spy on everyone at all times. Persons in the highest official positions of the country are required to spy on and report about all other persons at their level and below.
Communism sanctions mass murder for the purpose of creating a utopian society. When you eliminate everyone who supports capitalism and/or "soft" socialism, you create a country of brain dead-brain washed people who believe that truth is entirely what the Communist Party determines to be true. Senses and science become irrelevant to truth.
Throughout history, people have fled from communist countries, leaving behind absolutely everything they own to escape communism. Just ask immigrants from S. Viet Nam or the former Soviet Union.
This book explains in a clear and complete fashion how Communist countries are created, how they works and how it is different from Western and especially US republic and democratic governments.

You Can Still Trust the Communists... is so fascinating I read it twice to really absorb the material. It's an excellent inside look at how Progressives slowly erode the freedom of a nation by following a time worn recipe which leads it down the road to Socialism, then to the ultimate goal of Communism. Helloooo, America! Wake up! It's at your doorstep and if you don't educate yourself with the TRUTH you will end up a member of the Proletariat... also called "useful idiots" in the hands of a Communist dictator.

Dr. Fred Schwarz is an articulate writer. Most of the book is a re-release of his classic, written 50 years ago. It's absolutely stunning how every chapter applies to us today in 2010. The outstanding new chapters that have been added by Dr. David Noebel, are very current, revealing the great success of the Progressive movement in America, and the distinct ties the Obama administration has to the Communist Party. Chapter 15, "The Socialization of America" is chilling, particularly when you discover many members of Congress have Communist leanings.

I love the book cover. It's a very clever spin-off from the Beatles album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". You'll have fun studying the cover's detailed illustration to figure out who all those little people are. The explanation of each one inside the front cover is helpful. Certainly some big surprises there...

In the back of the book there's a chapter called "Is Communism Dead? You decide." It's a compilation of quotes which speak for themselves quite effectively to prove that the answer to the question is a loud NO! Prepare to have your eyes opened. This is a MUST READ for every American of high school age and up.

God save America from going down the road to Communism. Hopefully this valuable book will help prevent that.

This is the book that made me a conservative.

In 1968, in 8th grade, I found it (the 1962 printing of the first edition) in my public high school library and read it cover-to-cover in a few days.

It said that Communists mean exactly what they say: they intend to bury us! It explained Marxist/Leninist philosophy, terminology, history, and associated atrocities, clearly as a bell, and in great detail.

After that, I read world and national news voraciously and developed a lifelong interest in conservatism and standing up for what's right.

I thank God for Dr. Schwarz and for his sounding the alarm. His work changed my life.

God willing, it will wake up more people, to come to the defense of our nation and children.
