5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE!!! The Best Source Ever On Proper Throwing Mechanics, October 17, 2011

This review is from: You Can Throw Harder: An Engineer's Approach To Developing More Velocity (Paperback)
If it were possible to give this book 10 stars then I would.

This is by far the best book or DVD or any material I have ever run into on proper throwing technique during my years of research and study of baseball mechanics. This is the GOLD STANDARD on throwing. Nothing else is in the same ball park.

If you are a parent who wants his or her child to have the best chance of having the most fun because of a healthy, strong, and successful throwing ability, then this is The Book.

I cannot say enough good things about it. Whenever I hear or gather more information on throwing, I always compare that information to what is in this book and throw the foreign information out if it is not consistent with this book. Other *good* sources on throwing and pitching are indeed consistent with this book but are not as detailed or as in depth in the whys and hows of proper healthy powerful throwing technique.

Shuey explains why and how you should throw with specific details on what you should be doing. Now, I can also spot specific areas where throwers need changes and more improvement, along with exercises and drills to make them better throwers.

And yes, this book is still very much relevant after 10 years. Here is a snippet of a correspondence with the author on Thu, Oct 6, 2011:

-----------
Q: After 10 more years of research, is there anything that you think in the book in NOT right?

A: "I think the rotation should be emphasized as hips first and upper body second and I don't think I did a very good job of describing that in the book. Additionally, I didn't emphasize the early external rotation, but that's dangerous as I've discussed before. You have to solve the arm position first." - Ken Shuey
