From Booklist
Gr. 2-5. This slim volume combines Olympian and World Cup-winner Venturini's biography with a slight but informative introduction to women's soccer. The no-frills text describes the athlete's career in her own words, followed by a brief history of women's soccer and a succinct overview of how the game is played. Rounding out the book is a list of questions that will help young girls pinpoint if soccer is their game. The many color photos, which are set on colorful pages next to cartoon drawings, appear without captions, weakening the book overall. There are also a few typos: for example, "whereI" for "where I." Still, there is fuel for young fans' enthusiasm here, both in images and in practical information. Consider this if material on women's soccer is in high demand. Gillian Engberg
