3.0 out of 5 stars FAIR LITTLE PROGRAMMER., August 30, 2002
This review is from: You Can't Fool Your Wife [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Lucille Ball and James Ellison were reunited two years after making THE NEXT TIME I MARRY for this fairly amusing filler, which is made palatable by Ball's charms in a dual role. They play a dull married couple until Ellison takes a fling and Lucy makes herself glamourous and wins him back...The familiar plot has a mother-in-law getting in the way of an otherwise successful marriage. This time Emma Dunn puts her nose in the affairs of Ball and Ellison once too often, forcing them to separate only to rediscover each other during a masquerade party. A few good lines in an otherwise uneventful script coupled with decent performances make this passable entertainment. Based on the story THE ROMANTIC MR. HINKLIN by the film's director Ray McCarey & Richard Carroll, this little flick from 1940 will be of interest mainly to Lucy addicts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie!, March 9, 2009
This review is from: You Can't Fool Your Wife [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I'm a huge fan of classic movies, yet while I wish I could consider myself a 'true pro classic movie buff', I'm truly nothing close to such a person. I saw "You Can't Fool Your Wife" for the first time on the TCM (Turner Classic Movies) channel only a couple of years ago, and I fell in love with it. I consider it a display of a fantastic performance of Lucy's, while it goes unknown by many today :(. This is a wonderful comedy that'll entertain its audiences every time it's viewed!
