4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Surprised
I didn't even know this dude had a cd out. I watch Wrestlen every know and then and I like him as a wrestler but as a rapper I thought he was going to be corny. I heard a few tracks and I was like "Whoa this dude actually got some skill" I thought it was gonna be some WWF type corny stuff but I was wrong. I was defentally surprised when I heard Freddie Foxxx (Bumpy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad For A First Try
I looked forward to hearing John Cena's first rap album. I was seriously hoping he wasn't going to turn into another Marky-Mark...you know, someone who will use hip hop for his own expense, then drop it and move on.

Let's hope he comes out with a second album! It's pretty good for a first try. It has a great underground feel, and Cena has a good flow. PERFECT...

I heard a few tracks and I was like "Whoa this dude actually got some skill" I thought it was gonna be some WWF type corny stuff but I was wrong. I was defentally surprised when I heard Freddie Foxxx (Bumpy Knuckles) on it. When I first saw him on the CD and I was like Freddie Foxxx doing tracks with him? WTF? but after hearing it I knew why. This is a good Hip Hop cd and isn't all glamor rap talking about money and cars and stuff. Any true hip hop fan would really enjoy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise!, June 16, 2005
This review is from: You Can't See Me (Audio CD)
I must admit that when I bought the Cena album, I didn't know what to expect. After listening to the first few tracks I was blown away! The remaining tracks are just as solid. This CD is leaps & bounds better than so many other hip-hop/rap albums that are being released these days including some of the new ones from the veteran rappers. I am not a big fan of the two cronies that rap with Cena on this CD, but they are not bad enough that it takes anything away from the album's worth. Do yourself a favor and buy this bad boy now! My favorite tracks are: Just about all of them! (I'm serious)

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprised mos def, May 31, 2005

Well i used to watch wrestling before i went to university so i ive only heard word of mouth about this john cena guy but one of my friends who also doesnt know who he really is told me to get this cd cuz he thought it was better than 50. I didn't beleive him of course so i looked at reviews on the net all i saw was fans of this dude giving him good reviews like ppl who watch wrestling so i figured it was crap boy was i wrong. I'm big into rap i have my ear to the street really i get pretty much any mixtape that comes out every week i check for the new ones so i hear everything in rap and i lately have been losing hope in rap until i heard this cd really. I'm not gonna tell ya my fave songs so you can download them they are all good i guess cena has been rapping since a teen and it shows his flows are laid out smooth and his rhymes are slick like 50 and metaphorical like Fabolous ppl are gonna hate on him cuz hes a wrestler and a rapper second but if u ask me i think this guy couldnt get signed cuz hes white and got into wrestling to become famous so he could rap and it worked. This CD is better than 50 and eminems latest mos def..., at this point i can't put it above there best but i assure you this CD is amazing i'll put it out there now this CD will be in my top 10 faves for sure if you love rap get it and if you love john cena or wrestling im sure you already have it i think im gonna watch sum wrestling now just to see this guy hahah peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest Rating, May 12, 2005
This review is from: You Can't See Me (Audio CD)
Being honest, I was definity feeling alittle nervous about Cena's album, however, I was shocked and very proud of the fact that this turned out to be a great album for Cena. I thought it was joke at first and then I got to actually sit down and listen to album, verse by verse, beat by beat, and song by song. Check this out, I've been listing to hip-hop for the last 11 yrs. Since X, Nas, Jay-Z, B.I.G, Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre and then newer cats like M, 50 Cent, Luda, etc. I'm no average joe when it comes to hip-hop, so speaking truthfully, Cena album is GOOD! He's no vanilla ice or Marky Mark and the funky bunch. Coming from a true hip-hop fan and an unbiased Wrestling Fan, The album is worth gettin' Keep it up Cena!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cena 's got Skillzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!!!!!!!!!!, June 4, 2005
This review is from: You Can't See Me (Audio CD)
First off I want to give mad props to Cena and TradeMarc...the album is dope! I have been listening to hip hop for what seems like forever (I am 30 years old) The cd reminds me of a mix between the original LL Cool J and some Will Smith. This is OLD SCHOOL hip-hop...just flowin with thoughts. Nothing about gangs,violence....just the love of the game. Some tracks worthy of mentioning is:Make it Loud, Right Now (ladies track, hits the sensitive nerve, Just another day, Don't wanna f**k with us and What Would You Do. I stress this is not another athlete like Shaq trying to make it. Cena has pure talent...it is just an added perk seeing his fine ass in the ring every Thursday night. If you are a true hip-hop fan you MUST buy this cd...you will love it...!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Impressed, May 11, 2005
This review is from: You Can't See Me (Audio CD)
Well of course with me being a very big rap fan(and not only rap i listen to all kinds of music) I was still a little skeptical of picking this one up with his whole wrestling thing and yes im a wreslting fan also and i knew that Cena would be coming with the definite underground sound and not alot of mainstream up beat pop rap. The only thing keeping this from being perfect like other reviewers have stated, there's not enough Cena on it and at times he's outshined by his featured artists but still overall this is a surprisingly well produced and delivered album by Cena, even if your not huge on wrestling please try to overlook that about him and see him for his skill on the mic because he has a very good flow about him and it works, so if your a fan of a more old school feel rap record without the flash of the overplayed bling bling, cars, money, women, gangs, guns, and murder then this is somethin you should pick up you wont regret it. Great debut Cena, I cant wait to see if he can keep this going.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good debut, close to excellent, May 10, 2005

The only thing that stops me from giving this album a excellent rating is the same thing that most other reviews are saying, Cena needed to rap more on it and not use cliches as much as he did. With that said, the beats and overall flow are excellent. There are seventeen tracks on here, that is a rare thing for any debut album. I like the variety of subjects of his own life that Cena brought to the table, he put genuine effort into the album and it shows. I look forward to seeing what the next album has, I think it will get the excellent rating.
And I have to say it, "CHI-TOWN CHAIN GANG REPRESENT!!!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than I expected, August 11, 2005

Very impressed. Like the Fozzy album I expected this to be horrible. How can you take a gimmick album seriously. I'm not a Cena fan by any means.

That said, I broke down and gave the album a listen this week. Steller use of hip hop to portray a message. "The Time Is Now" & "Bad Bad Man" are very fun energetic tracks that flow better than some of Dre or Snoops work.

By far, the best song here is called "Right Now". It's one of the lighter R&B tracks on his album... One of those songs that just plain makes you feel good about who you are. A song with a deep message about being happy where you are and happy with who you've become. If you have a chance to see the music video for this song give it a look.

Give this CD a chance... I opened my mind. You should too... You'll thank yourself for it.
