If someone has changed your life for the good, now is the time to celebrate by letting them know how much they matter.
Oftentimes true heroes of faith don’t stand out in the world, but they have made a lasting difference in someone’s life—they’re a hero to someone. This gift book celebrates their story by first providing a dedication beginning with “You changed my life by___” to be written in detail by the giver to the recipient. To follow are stories told by Max about others who have answered the call of their convictions and took steps of faith (both big and small) resulting in lasting change in the lives around them. It’s a message that honors the person who receives the book, and inspires us all to see that real people with remarkable hearts can change lives.

Publisher: Thomas Nelson; Gift edition (September 14, 2010)
In just under two decades of writing, Max Lucado has accomplished more than most writers hope for in a lifetime. Most of his books have appeared on one or more best seller lists, including those published by the "New York Times," "USA Today," "Publishers Weekly," and the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA). Aside from hardcover books, Lucado's writings have also been published as children's books, videos, CD-ROMs, DVDs, music CDs, mass paperback booklets, apparel, giftware, bookmarks, calendars, study Bibles, workbooks, curricula, and plush products. In spring 2003, Hallmark/Dayspring Cards launched a new gift card line featuring excerpts from Lucado's writings--and has already sold more than one million cards.
All this success has drawn more than a little attention to a previously low-profile Texas author and minister. Lucado has been featured in a wide range of media, including "USA Today," "Larry King Live," and "NBC Nightly News." He has spoken at the National Prayer Breakfast before the President of the United States. He has traveled with internationally renowned musicians as a special speaker on their music tours, such as the highly successful "Come Together & Worship Tour" (sponsored by Chevrolet) with Grammy Award-winning artists Michael W. Smith and Third Day.
Journey to the Top Lucado was born in 1955 in San Angelo, Texas, and raised in Andrews, Texas, the youngest of four children. His father was an Exxon oil field mechanic who, Lucado remembers, always smelled of grease cleaner. "It makes it easy for me to see a God who is loving and kind--because my dad was," he says. His mother was a nurse who grew up working in the cotton fields.
Lucado went through a period of rebellion against his parents' values and their God during his teens and into college. But it wasn't long before he found himself drawn back to his roots, back to God. He married, spent time serving as a missionary in Brazil, and returned to the States, where he began working as a church minister and writing on the side.
Secret to Success From all accounts, Max Lucado is not a man consumed by sales, awards, and achievements. He often turns down media interviews since they impede on family and ministry commitments. He spends the bulk of his week serving as senior minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. And he is truly surprised by his own success--more impressed by his one-in-a-million wife and three amazing daughters than by his successful writing career.
You Changed My Life was sent to me by mistake by Thomas Nelson, but they allowed me to review it for them anyway. I would never have chosen to read this book on my own; I'm not big into gift books. I find people generally don't actually read the book itself; they may place it on the coffee table or beside their bed, but they don't actually sit down to read it in its entirety.
Max Lucado can be a bit on the fluffy side anyway, and I figured this gift book would be the same, especially since all of the content was taken from his previously published books. This book is intended to provide several different encouraging and uplifting short stories, and surprisingly some of them are actually very good. Others are just downright corny, and didn't really necessarily provide any encouragement to me specifically. While most of the stories had a spiritual overtone, they mostly focused on how good people are instead of Jesus providing us with the ability to do good. There were definitely some interesting stories from history throughout the tiny read, and I found those the most interesting. It's definitely a fluffy read, but I guess fluffy reads have their place- just most likely not on my coffee table.

I had never heard of Max Lucado until this year. You Changed My Life is a good book to have. The initial reason for this book is for it to be given out as a gift. That was initially my intention, but after reading it, I kind of wanted to keep it for myself.
The book is filled with multiple stories of how people's lives were changed by certain situations. There are eight sections: Love, Kindness, Commitment, Compassion, Hope, Courage, Wisdom, and Friendship. Within each section are different stories based on each particular chapter. At the end of some of the stories are Bible texts that correspond with it. Some of the stories have an inspirational quote on a picture page before it. I found the quotes amazing. You could gain inspiration from the quotes alone.
I felt this book was very uplifting. Anyone could find inspiration in here that they could relate to or even pass on to someone else (the true reason for the book). I highly recommend this book for someone to read or give out as a gift to a friend.
Any book junkie knows that other book junkies absolutely love getting books as gifts and there is one book that not only serves as a wonderful gift but is as encouraging and inspiring to read as it is to receive.
Max Lucado does a brilliant job in YOU Changed My Life, highlighting real stories about real people who make life worth living. Walk with him through these pages of hope and experience what humanity cries out for, unconditional love and concern for one another.
This book is about changing one's life. How one act of kindness can impact someone in phenomenal ways and is a celebration of the love or concern you have for the one in whom will receive this book. It's pages are beautifully illustrated and consists of over 188 pages including scripture, quotes and words of wisdom.
This is a gift that will keep on giving for generations to come. Be blessed as you become a blessing to that special someone whether he/she is a parent, sibling, good friend, mentor, teacher, neighbor or stranger that could benefit from an encouraging word or two. This book should rest on all of humanity's shelves. You Changed My Life: Stories of Real People With Remarkable Hearts
Thanks to Booksneeze for sending me a copy of this pretty little book. My review is just that though, mine. As gift books go, this is a good one. It takes Chicken Soup for the Soul type stories and adds in the Bible verse that corresponds to it.' However, as gift books go, well, I'm too practical for them, I guess. They become dust collectors in my house and there is enough of that already. Unless, I had a completely life altering event happen, then I'd be happy to give this particular book to someone. It's a great little hardback with glossy paper and a nice dust cover but the best part are the Bible references added. I'd be finding the story that hits me just right and making a little note to the person that affected me so on that page...just to make it more personal.
Beautifully written as only Max Lucado can write! Presented 'up front and personal' of those who live with remarkable hearts. If everyone was to listen with their ears and HEAR with their HEARTS, what a wonderful world this would be. Read this book!

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was hard to read through all the uplifting stories without getting emotional.
