This song has been recorded tens of times but the hottest one was by Ray Charles. He did it twice, once as a solo and once as a duet with Diana Krall. It's been on the chart many times and was originally written by Cindy Walker and Eddy Arnold in 1955.

The Greatest Song Ever Recorded,
By Mark R. Trost (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Don't Know Me (MP3 Download)
Okay I'm going right out to the tip of the limb and say that "You Don't Know Me" (Arnold/Walker) is the greatest song ever recorded. Sure ... perhaps there have been greater songs. But when you factor in the singer - many songs don't translate well. Need proof? Any song ever performed by a wedding singer sounded better in the original recording. Oh you still have doubts? Have you ever heard "Sweet Home Alabama" performed by a polka band? I've made my point.
But "You Don't Know Me" is great across the board. And okay. Nothing is absolute in music. Somewhere someone recorded a version that sucked. If Florence Henderson recorded this song, well I'm just not responsible for it. But let's just roll with this and not get too detached by the details. Ray Charles recorded the definitive version.
