Paris Makes It Happen!,

Rebecca Paris doesn't record enough these days......So this collection was highly anticipated and does not disappoint. Ms. Parris' voice has changed....it has become deeper and so much richer!
Her interpretations of such gems as Lush Life, Yesterdays, Don't Go To Strangers are that much better when Paris lovingly wraps her vocal chords around the lyrics. We are treated to 15 great tracks (my favorite being the title tune...You Don't Know Me)and I would recommend this CD to any of her fans!

A Rare Jewel,

I just happened to stumble upon a Rebecca Parris interview on a local Jazz radio station (KCSM is San Mateo, CA) and they played several selections from this CD. I loved what I heard so much, that I went right to my computer and bought a copy. I am now a Rebecca Parris fan. Her voice has the some of the rich character of Rosemary Clooney with the smokey edge of Dinah Washington, and she's backed by an amazing group of musicians. The Standards compiled on this CD are just perfectly chosen for Ms Parris as well. She is an absolute master at expressing every ounce of emotion and meaning in the lyrics and this selection gives her plenty of material to work with. Do yourself a favor, listen to a sampling of these songs here on amazon. And then buy yourself a copy. You won't be disappointed.

An Evocation!,

What a voice! Ms. Parris's delivery brings back such greats as Dakota Staton, Dinah Washington and Linda Holmes, but the timbre is hers alone, an edginess that grabs you by the ears and irresistably turns your attention to the music. Brad Hatfield's piano is superior throughout, as are Peter Kontrimas (bass) and Matt Gordy (drums). The tracks featuring guests Gary Burton, Houston Person and Jerry Bergonzi will blow you away.If you're looking for some nice bland background noise, this album isn't for you. Instead, it will transport you into another world with the first few notes she sings and that's a wonderful place to be.
