5.0 out of 5 stars Paris Makes It Happen!
Rebecca Paris doesn't record enough these days......So this collection was highly anticipated and does not disappoint. Ms. Parris' voice has changed....it has become deeper and so much richer!

This album was a disappointment. Her voice sounds quite harsh. Get "Spring" or "My Foolish Heart" instead.

Her interpretations of such gems as Lush Life, Yesterdays, Don't Go To Strangers are that much better when Paris lovingly wraps her vocal chords around the lyrics. We are treated to 15 great tracks (my favorite being the title tune...You Don't Know Me)and I would recommend this CD to any of her fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Jewel, October 14, 2007

I just happened to stumble upon a Rebecca Parris interview on a local Jazz radio station (KCSM is San Mateo, CA) and they played several selections from this CD. I loved what I heard so much, that I went right to my computer and bought a copy. I am now a Rebecca Parris fan. Her voice has the some of the rich character of Rosemary Clooney with the smokey edge of Dinah Washington, and she's backed by an amazing group of musicians. The Standards compiled on this CD are just perfectly chosen for Ms Parris as well. She is an absolute master at expressing every ounce of emotion and meaning in the lyrics and this selection gives her plenty of material to work with. Do yourself a favor, listen to a sampling of these songs here on amazon. And then buy yourself a copy. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Evocation!, October 19, 2011

What a voice! Ms. Parris's delivery brings back such greats as Dakota Staton, Dinah Washington and Linda Holmes, but the timbre is hers alone, an edginess that grabs you by the ears and irresistably turns your attention to the music. Brad Hatfield's piano is superior throughout, as are Peter Kontrimas (bass) and Matt Gordy (drums). The tracks featuring guests Gary Burton, Houston Person and Jerry Bergonzi will blow you away.

If you're looking for some nice bland background noise, this album isn't for you. Instead, it will transport you into another world with the first few notes she sings and that's a wonderful place to be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Put this CD in your collection, September 17, 2007
This review is from: You Don't Know Me (Audio CD)
Rebecca Parris is the real deal. Her phrasing is world class. Her tone penetrates and delivers the song with class and integrity. I beieve that Boston is becoming a source of totally legit Jazz artists and Rebecca can be considered one of the founders of that growing reputation. The CD sounds like it was done in one take...and I don't say that as a criticism because in my opinion, it is a honest and back to basics approach to Jazz music that is refreshing in today's world of over-produced music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, as always, July 11, 2007
This review is from: You Don't Know Me (Audio CD)
Rebecca just keeps getting better all the time. I first heard her at Twins Jazz Club in Washington, DC almost a decade ago, and I'm a die hard fan. Plus, she is a wonderful person who is willing to share her talents with fellow vocalists. Rebecca, you go girl!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss her!, May 12, 2007

Rebecca Parris is a vocal artist. She takes chances. She swings. She breaks your heart. This CD shows many sides of this remarkable vocalist. She takes the familiar songs and makes them new again. But don't just listen once; listen over and over again and discover nuances and depths that you will miss the first time. She is indeed a "Weaver of Dreams." And if you want to hear ballads only, buy her CD "My Foolish Heart." Be prepared. She reaches into you. And the beauty of her singing will fill you with joy. You may even weep.

I had anticipated a strong choice of songs from Rebecca but I was disappointed . Too many draggy ones...not up to her potential or past performances.
