Fantastic find!! An all-time great from the 60's "one-hit" wonders,

I grew up in Michigan and thought that this song was only a regional hit. I was actually right, so now you know my surprise when I found it listed on Amazon one day and bought it.The second the old familiar Leslie organ sound started, I got chills and was thrown back into the time machine and there I was, necking on the couch with my girlfriend, Cheryl D. in 11th grade. She had bought the 45 RPM and we let it keep playing over and over again as we were "working on mysteries without any clues." (To quote Bob Seger). As it turns out, she was really my only one true love in my life, and now at 60 years old, I have still never married or had a family - nor have I dated in years. Therefore, this song hits me much deeper than just a passing fad for most baby boomers. (Cheryl married 3 times in her life, and although we used to keep in touch periodically, I regret to say she has fallen out of touch...) |
