I stumbled across this gem by means of a recommendation from a friend. I was at first a little sceptical as had once heard his previous band (Great White) before and wasn't really bowled over.

But this wow what can I tell you, FOR YOU is an amazing record. Jack's voice sends tingles down the spine and with the high level of backing musicianship and overall sound this really does the trick. From the gorgeous ballad For You to the haunting Always, this really is 5 out of 5 from the minute you push play.

I can only add do yourself a favour and buy it, you will not be dissapointed.

As you know, Jack Russell has a great singing style, and an excellent vocal range. He is the voice on all of the Great White Albums, and he takes on a new direction with "For You". This album is filled with soothing, and heart-felt lyrics about the power that "true" love holds over us all. Having been lucky enough to experience true love more than once in my life, I completely related to Jack's well worded songs. This music is a bit softer than Great White, but that is because the songs are designed to place emphasis on the vocal mastery of Jack Russell. This album is similar to what Robert Plant has done apart from his years with Led Zeppelin. I only wish every song on the album was a winner. But like most rock albums, there are a couple of songs that are less than impressive. But I don't blame Jack Russell for anything I didn't like. He will always be a great singer, regardless of the style of music that he sings! Buy it!!

When this CD first came out, I just didn't want to hear anything different than the "hard rockin" Great White. But, I really do LOVE the voice of Jack Russell. He is a one-of-a-kind! I realized that what I love about his music is that it makes me happy whether it is "rockin" or "poppin". I just love this HAPPY CD and I will always support anything he sings! Thanks Jack!

I have been a fan of Jack Russell and Great White since they began. Jack is one of the most under aprreciated vocalists in the history of rock and roll. His band, also was one of the best American rock and roll bands of the 80's and 90's. I read the previous reviews and knew not to expect another Great White record with this solo effort. What I didn't expect however was the songs that show up on this disc. Any Kinda Love was not a bad start. After that it drops off a great deal. The voice is spectacular, as usual. But the songs are complete pop rubbish. Not pop-metal, but pop music. Michael Bolton type songs. The songs seem like anybody in the world could have written them. I cannot understand what audience that Jack is trying to appeal to. He has built a loyal following with Great White and then decides to go solo and do something completely off the map for him. It is good to not put out the same CD over and over again, but sometimes you can take change one, two or possibly hundreds of steps too far. Is he looking to hook up with the dreaded Adult Contempo circuit where he can hang with Mr. Bolton, Air Supply etc. to prolong a career? I am confused with this career turn. I can only assume making this CD made Jack happy, why I have no idea, but I wish him the very best. He is a great vocalist and a very nice guy in person. Only complete diehards need approach this offering.

This is a great solo CD by the lead singer of the hard rock band Great White,it sounds great all the songs are really cool.

2002's For You was the second solo album from Great White frontman Jack Russell. I guess the first thing I should mention about For You is that it's not another Great White album, so if that's what you're looking for you're going to be disappointed. Sure, you can hear similarities to Great White, at least the more mellow Great White (Sail Away, for example), but this really isn't a hard rocking album.

For You finds Russell experimenting with an almost pop sound, if you call this kind of laid back, blues-based rock pop. It's almost like a Chris Isaak album, and oddly enough that kind of sound works really well with a soulful and emotional vocalist like Russell. He's also a first-rate songwriter (and so underrated), and at the top of his game here. These are some really smooth, and dare I say it, beautiful songs.

Every time I hear a new Jack Russell/Great White album, I'm more convinced that the guy can do no wrong musically. If you're a fan of the later Great White sound, chances are you'll like what Russell has come up with here as much as I did. It's just an all-around impressive pop/rock album.

This CD is heavy on very popish songs & ballads. It is definitely one notch softer than a typical Great White album. Nevertheless, it's a good CD for what it is.

I've been a Great White fan for about 16 years and Jack Russell has always been one of my favorite singers. His new solo effort is definitely worth buying. It's better than a lot of Great White's material, and is a definite improvement over his last solo album, "Shelter Me". This isn't a hard rockin' album like some of you may have wanted. Instead, Jack has definitelty taken a slightly different direction and has create a fantasitic contemporary pop record. The closest thing it comes to when comparing it to Great White is in the slow songs. Jack can belt out a good ballad. Anyway, if you like Jack Russell's voice, there is no misstaking his trademark sound on this one. Buy it!

Yes Jack did take a different path from Great White. But that's not a bad thing. I do like the CD, but I also need to take a break before it's played all 11 songs. To compare this music to Michael Bolton is WAY off track. A better comparison would be some of Robert Plants solo work. It's a good addition to my CD collection. Enjoy it if you can get it !

All I can say is I love Jack Russell. ... Jack is Jack, what a voice. Love the songs "For You, Any kind of Love, and My Everything. ... If you like his singing, this is a great cd to buy.
