One of the best Smiths songs ever. Released on a compilation and jauntily singing "and people are rude and cruel to you...you just haven't earned it yet baby...you must suffer and cry for a longer time." I'd say get the Louder Than Bombs comp but if not that one then get these two comps: The Sound of the Smiths, ESPECIALLY if you are just starting to listen to them. You cannot just randomly grab something and throw in the cd player. It could really turn you off to them. Start with a comp or the Smiths singles cd. OR if you are wanting to explore Morrissey then get Bona Drag for very early stuff, or go for The Best of Morrissey OR Suedehead: The Best of Morrissey. Some overlap and die hards would argue til the end of time over which would be best to start with, but they are sort of a bit a mix of very early and semi-middle Morrissey.He then releases Maladjusted, a fan fave but don't buy as a first purchase. Then goes into the last slew of CD's he's put out, which are all very different than the former part of his career. |
