"Walker's excellent conclusion to her Ash trilogy is a taut suspense novel that will keep [fans] hooked." ---Romantic Times --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

From the Inside Flap

"You okay with soup?"

"As long as it's nothing gross like split pea or something like that."

He laughed. "Nah, you're safe. I can't touch split pea without thinking of The Exorcist."

Nia groaned and squeezed her eyes closed. "Oh, that so much for that image..."

"You're welcome," he said cheerfully. "I always feel better when I share an image like that. Helps lessen my mental agony."

Popping one eye open, she stared at him as he opened the red and white can. "Your mental agony. You're a strange character, Law."

"Yeah. I've heard that a time or two."

She shuddered and tried to scrub her mind of that image--thankfully it had been years since she'd tried split pea soup so she wasn't inclined to gag, and she had a pretty strong stomach anyway. The shit she saw in her job...well, it wasn't for the faint of heart.

"Since we're not going to define just what we're doing here, I've got another question for you."

"Yeah?" She was almost afraid to hear, seeing as how his humor obviously ran to the twisted.

But when she glanced at him, his expression was serious.

Heavy, even.

He took his time, putting the soup on the stove, flipping the bacon again. Her belly rumbled at the scent and she thought about getting up to try and steal a piece.

Then he pinned her with that intense hazel gaze. How those eyes could look so dark and brooding, she didn't know, but he managed it. Her knees felt a little wobbly and all of a sudden, her heart was racing.

"Just why are you back in Ash, Nia?" he asked softly.

"Pardon?" Even as she forced the word out, she wanted to kick herself. Playing dumb wasn't going to work with him. But she didn't know how to answer that question.

Tell him the truth, a small voice inside her heart whispered.

Her head screeched, No.

Everything else demanded she do just that.

The truth--give him the truth.

But what if he laughed? What if he didn't believe her?

What if--God forbid--he pitied her and stroked her back and sent her on her way?

Swallowing, she swiped her hands on the overlong hem of the shirt again, staring past his shoulder at the window. The blinds were down, but the window was open and occasionally, the blinds would move, pushed in by a small breeze. She focused on the small undulation, tried to get her thoughts in order.

Where to start...hell, where did she start?

Did she tell him the truth?

She swallowed, jerked her eyes back to his.

Abruptly, she knew.

Yeah. She told him the truth. Somehow, she knew he wasn't going to laugh. Wouldn't pat her on the head and send her on her way. Whether he'd believe her or not, she didn't know, but he wouldn't dismiss it, either.

"My cousin," she said.

Law nodded. "I had a feeling it was about her. No other reason for you to come back here, is there?"

She swallowed again--there was a knot in her throat--huge and awful, and she could hardly breathe around it. But swallowing almost made her feel like she'd choke--choke on the tears, the pain. "You'd think it would get easier, right? "

I had read the first 2 books in the Ash trilogy and was REALLY into finding out who the killer was. The romances and sex and plot in the first 2 were great. I even loved Law and thought Nia was a fabulous character. A strong female who cared about her cousin and came back to Ash to find out who abducted,tortured,raped,etc... you get the picture of what was done to her cousin. Up until the middle of "If you know her" I was ready to give it a 5 star... So why in the world am I giving this book a 1 star?
SPOILERS AHEAD...do not read further if you havent read this book.
At the half way point in the book Law,Ezra and Nia have used some old maps to find long forgotten basements of houses that were torn down years ago. They find the last one and Law goes down with a camera phone and a flash light. He finds the killer's torture cell. It is of course awful and bloody, we know from previous books that there are shackles. He finds a bloody saw that the killer has been using to cut up the women. Law takes pictures. He tells Nia he wishes he hadn't seen the place because now it's in his head forever. They go to her cabin and it's been destroyed, ripped to shreds. Then they go to Law's house and he tells her she does not want to see these photos. He deletes the photos after emailing them to Remy. Okay, Law leaves his cell phone on the counter and takes a shower. Of course Nia HAS to see the photos so she opens the email and looks.IT SO BAD SHE IS ALMOST CATATONIC when Law finds her so............they discuss how to get these awful images out of their heads. It's so bad neither can sleep or close their eyes without seeing the images.
NOW comes the reason I gave the book a 1 star. Her niece was held in that basement, beaten, brutalized, raped, sodomized, tortured and choked to death.

This story is the conclusion of the Ash Trilogy, in which we were trying to figure out a murder plaguing the community in Ash Kentucky. I have to say that I liked the love stories in the prior books better, but I loved the last half of this book the best. I wasn't sure who the killer was, but I shouldn't have been surprised. Good job Shiloh Walker. He was a normal sociopath (LOL). Normal in that he fit into society and appeared to be a regualr person. Sociopath in that he was a freaking serial killer! A really good story.

If you remember from the previous book, Nia Hollister came back to town to expedite the investigation into her cousin Jolene's murder. She was definitely a strong woman, who didn't take crap from anyone. She carried her own gun, and she made sure people knew she wasn't going to be anyone's victim. She made her appearance in book 2 where she pulled a gun on Edward Lawson Reilly ("Law") and his friend Hope. Hope had been a suspect in the murder but was later cleared. But Law felt a connection to Nia and chose to protect her during that incident. From then on, Law and Nia felt a pull towards each other.

The one thing with Nia is that she is head strong. She uncovers evidence that the person from Book 2 is NOT the murder. So Nia begins gathering evidence to support her believe that her cousin's killer is still out there. She wants to make sure her cousin/best friends killer was brought to justice, but now Nia has stirred up the hornet's nest. The killer starts with subtle threats but now started losing control as Nia was getting others to buy into her suspicion. Nia, Law and the rest of their crew have to quick uncover the killer's identity before one of them become a casualty.

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Nia Hollister knows logically the law caught the killer Joe Carson who brutalized and killed her cousin Jolene six months ago in Ash, Kentucky. She saw his corpse, yet her instincts scream at her that something is not right. To obtain closure, she heads to Ash.

The only negative with her quest in her mind is in Ash is Law Reilly who she obsesses over as much as finding who killed Joely. Law reciprocates her attraction and goes up in her mind when he does not scorn her theory but actually supports her assertion. As Nia scrutinizes the police report and other related public documents, Law fears for her safety from an unknown enemy watching her. He will soon learn that sometime paranoia is justified when her room is haphazardly searched.

The final Ash romantic suspense is a great finish to a strong series. The overarching whodunit is brilliantly resolved while the romantic subplot takes a back seat to the increasingly dangerous investigation. Although it behooves the audience to read the previous novels in order (see If You See Her and If You Hear Her) as they build up and directly lead to this suspenseful climax, Shiloh Walker completes the fabulous Ash saga with another super entry.

Nia Hollister cannot get over the death of her cousin. She should be able to put this to rest since they found the person responsible for the ghastly murder but that's the problem. Nia doesn't believe that the killer has been found. Nia believes he's still out there stalking women and she's determined to find out the truth.

The last time Law Reilly saw Nia Hollister she had a gun pointed at him. As strange as it sounds he hasn't been able to forget the woman and not for the reason you think. Law is undeniably drawn to Nia. Once she comes back to town to find the truth surrounding her cousin's death, Law cannot stay away. He must test this attraction between the two of them, and if helping her cause gets him access to her then he's more than willing.

It doesn't take long for the citizens of Ash, Kentucky to realize that things are not as they seem. A murderer has been lurking in their midst for a while and it's up to Nia, Law and the new sheriff to follow the clues.

It's a dangerous time to be in Ash. Not everyone will come out alive in this the final installment of Shiloh Walker's remarkable Ash Trilogy. As the wickedly suspenseful If You Know Her starts begin praying that your favorite characters survive this sadistic killer because things are about to become dire in Ash.

Nia and Law's passion leave scorch marks on the pages of If You Know Her. I'm totally in love with these two. I love their adventure together and I also enjoyed the interaction between Nia and Law's best friend, Hope. I love Nia's relentless pursuit of justice for her cousin and Law's belief in her. It's no secret that I have become enamored with the couples that reside in the Ash Trilogy but I cannot get enough of this gripping and sometimes grotesque plot line. Ms.
