Book Description

January 1, 2008
The first book to reveal the “innocent fun” of S&M

For every woman who has necked shamelessly in a public place or felt an erotic thrill when a lover pinned her hands over her head during love-making—or for those of us who want to be that woman—You Know You Love It reveals the way to the kinkier side of pleasure. Dominatrix and practicing therapist Ilona Paris gives readers permission to tap into their deepest fantasies and uncover a new dimension of sexual feeling—to discover the world of S&M.

These loaded initials pack a wallop, but with Paris as a guide, “sexual mischief” is playful, fun, and so very hot. The lessons in this book can spice up a long-term couple’s sex life, give a young woman the tools of sexual freedom, or captivate the imagination of someone who’s looking for a new angle on intimacy. Chapters on anticipation, bondage, toys, and more are juxtaposed with anecdotes from the author’s adventures. You Know You Love It is a book about pushing sexual boundaries—which are often self-imposed—and opening the doors to bliss.

5.0 out of 5 stars When She Mentioned the Erotic Uses of Ice I Knew I'd Love It, May 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: You Know You Love It : Lessons in Sexual Mischief (Hardcover)
Sometimes a person knows they will like a book right away. Just as a cover catches the eye, the choice of subject matter can also reach out and capture the unwary passerby's attention. That's exactly what happened to this reviewer when one of the books cute illustrated drawings was of a woman's fingers dragging an ice cube along the back of a man's neck. For anyone who has experienced the absolute shock of a kaleidoscope of pleasurable sensations gained from adding lowly ice cubes or crashed ice to foreplay, the need to explore the rest of this book will be irresistible.

The author is absolutely right on when she writes, "creative erotic is the salt and pepper of the sex world." She also points out another interesting observation about spicing up one's sex life, "...it's one sexual technique that actually gets better with age. Most of the time it doesn't even become part of one's lifestyle until midlife." It's one of those cases when youth doesn't triumph over experience and patience.

Ex-Pro/Dom-turned psychologist Ilona Paris defines the purpose of her book early and then sticks to her plan. "In truth, S&M is one of the most playful, fun, mischievous, and good-humored practices you can engage in. Those loaded initials pack a wallop of teasing, lighthearted sexuality that can do much for so many, from setting a young woman apart from her competitors in the sexual arena of the modern meat market, to spicing up a love life for long-married couples who're bored with the same old same old."

This book is not going to shock the timid because it's mostly fun games and soft pleasures. It's a great introduction to adding kink to the reader's love life. Anticipation is half the fun and this author knows how to use anticipation to bring her partner to the brink of heaven or subspace again and again before actually allowing them to leap over the edge to achieve Nirvana. The examples she gives of how almost all children have innocently practiced these same techniques with their peers or played the same games in their youth is particularly true to everyone's experience. And while role playing usually disappears from most children's favorite activities, it's benefits often wait to be rediscovered by many of the still young-at-heart decades later. It's a rediscovery of the natural curiosity and fun normal to every human's development.

This is the kind of book women should read and practice if they think, imagine, suspect that their mate is maybe getting bored or his eye is straying toward the definitely bored, desperate housewife next door or his new secretary/administrative assistant/co-worker at work. Trying out some of these love games on your mate will bring his full attention right back to you and your bedroom or adult playroom. The author drops numerous hints about eventually doing a sequel to this tome and so we can all look forward to more advanced mischief in our futures. There is a wonderful feeling of fun and light-heartedness, subtle and not-so subtle humor and very, very naughty, but oh so deliciously suggestive suggestions saturating this guidebook to adult pleasure.

This book is a must for anyone looking for a little spice in there bedroom.

Sexual Mischief is an exciting and misunderstood area of sexuality. Ms. Paris' writing style presents material in a safe, candid, humorous way that encourages the reader to keep an open mind and learn about their own, sometimes hidden, desires.

This is a gem, do not miss it!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth the time, August 30, 2010

This book looked like it might be a fun read. It was tedious instead. First, the print is lavender or purple. The main text is the lighter color, and contrast to the white page is about as bad as it gets. The darker ink is saved for these little billboards of tips and suggestions that are overused, repetitive, and mostly boring. Maybe someone who as absolutely no clue about power exchange or alternative sexual practices might find this intriguing and informative, but if not, you aren't going to find out anything new here. If it was written in an entertaining way, it could have been worth the effort, but this is a vanity project where Ms. Paris wants to come off as being worldly and knowledgeable, and blows it with tired, worn-out clichés. It's just not worth it.
