Kyla, Kyla, Kyla.

The naïve heroine from Nikki Rashan's Double Pleasure Double Pain is back in YOU MAKE ME WANNA..., this time armed with the truth about who she is. This sequel picks up where Kyla left off, trying to decide between the man she is to marry and the woman who stole her heart. When she finally does choose, Kyla has lost them both, and instead heads to Atlanta with out-cousin David to begin her newly-minted lesbian life.

In "the gay Mecca of the South," Kyla throws herself in numerous sexual affairs with women, avoiding at all costs a deeper connection. She's still holding on to the hurt she felt from her two previous relationships that went sour. It prevents her from giving herself completely to another women, afraid to feel any type of pain again.

Until she meets Asia, the exotic beauty Kyla spies one afternoon. Enraptured by her luxurious locks and ebony complexion, Kyla wants to meet this woman and does after a set up by David's boyfriend, Marlon. And just one meeting with Asia tells Kyla that she's the one They begin a courtship, and Kyla has to deal with letting go of her past to commit to her future. Their relationship is built slowly, as Asia's been hurt, as well, but their love for each other heals the wounds.

You Make Me Wanna... definitely keeps your attention. Kyla is an engaging character who has an honest voice. You will journey with her through love at first sight and on her way to happily ever after. The secondary characters -- David, Marlon, and friend Nakia -- added something extra to the tale, as the three characters deal with their own issues.

Rashan wraps up the Kyla saga very well, settling all unanswered questions from the first book, and manages to make Kyla a character to remember. She feels like an old friend who's coming back to catch you up on her life...and you're hanging on to every word.

There is one thing that I am trying to figure out before I write this review. I pre-ordered this book in the summer of 2009. Though I see reviews for this book written in 2006 and 2007. What year did this book really come out? Have to find that out. Anyway,back to the purpose at hand....I ABSOLUTELY loved this book. Like I said, I pre-ordered it. Especially after reading "Double Pleasure" which I read twice! This is a very easy read. The characters also had me laughing! Nikki Rashans' writing just flows. The characters and story, great! This was a great follow up to "Double Pleasure" which left you wondering what happend to Kyla. Would recommend this book hands down. There is only one thing that I would have loved to have seen. For those who haven't read the book yet, don't read any further because I am about to give a big part of the story away. For those who have read it...I would have loved to have seen Kyla run into Stephanie when she went back home. To somehow have Kyla bump into Stephanie. I think that would have given the story a second icing on the cake! Still love this book! Nikki Rashan definitely has a fan here!

The characters were engaging. This was a nice read and a wonderful follow-up. The story wasn't too long and it never missed a beat. It was humbling that Kyla finally found comfort in her own skin after all of her trials.

With so many new or unheard of African-American authors on the scene with books of all genres and subject matters---the proof is out there that almost anyone can write a book. However, it takes true talent to tell a story. Nikki Rashan's got what it takes.

Somtimes it's hard to come back with the intensity of a first novel, but this novel was as good as the first! Looking forward to Kyla's next adventure...

Nikki has a way of bringing characters to life to make the readers feel as though the individuals are people they know. The characters are so real life it's amazing. While reading this book I immediately identified with Kyla's situation. Nikki's description of Kyla from her journey in life down to her physical description really had me intriqued to the point where I couldn't put the book down. The main characters are individuals that many women can identify with irrespective of their sexuality. A large portion of my straight friends read the book and they really liked Kyla's agressive femme, semi-diva, sometimes playa personality.

Great follow up...once I started reading this story I had to finish it. Nikki did another good job. The charaters were believable, which help to share the fantasy. I really cant wait til her next book comes out.

You Make Me Wanna, is a great read. It fell right in line from where Double Pleasure,Double Pain left off. Very interesting read and a happily ever after ending,suprisingly. If you have read the prequel then you must read this sequel.

I read both of her books in the same night. Each of her books has a little over 130 pages. I enjoyed them both but it could have been longer.

This sequel was boring and slow compared to part 1,I was very dissapointed by this and the fact that it didnt hold my attention like I had expect.It had little to no drama and I wasnt moved at all.2.5 stars

I was very dissapointed in "You Make Me Wanna"! There was no excitement within the pages of this book other than the drama between Tiff and Kyla in the earlier chapters! Just like Nikki Rashan's, Double Pleasure Double Pain, this book was extremely slow and didnt pique my interest! If you must read this book, buy it used so you wont feel like your money has been wasted!
