Brian Lighthouse (Dave Annable) photographs pets in clothes for a living. His new assistant Tonya (Mena Suvari) is sexy, playful and is in love with Brian who for some reason avoids her advances. Through some poorly scripted circumstances Brian finds himself in a position where he must marry Masha (Katharine McPhee) the daughter of a crime boss (Ken Davitian) in order for her to obtain her green card. After a year, the marriage will be annulled and she will then marry the overly jealous Vinnie Jones. Dad and Vinnie forbid consummating the relationship, even as they honeymoon in Tahiti.

Brian's under utilized mom (Kathy Bates) offers little in the way of helpful advice as she is a stay at home mom. The poorly conceived plot drags along and then at about 45 minutes into the film, we get the twist and the movie becomes a watchable comedy, formula and all. This will work as a date night film and perhaps a teen family night. Mena "Kitten" Suvari steals all the scenes. Her part was written better than Katharine McPhee.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity. Some sexual double entendre.

I saw the DVD on a supermarket shelf and assumed it was one of those straight-to-DVD movies that wasn't good enough for general release. If that's true it's probably because the male lead is a total unknown; replace him with Adam Sandler or Bradley Cooper and it would have been promoted up the wazoo. But that casting chance would have been a huge mistake, because Dave Annable was more than up to the job (and in my opinion a big improvement over Sandler). Unlike what I expected, this was no low-budget, half-hearted effort at a TV comedy, it was a big budget full-blown Hollywood production with outstanding production values and solid casting throughout. Being a fan of Katharine McPhee, when this movie appeared on Starz I could not resist watching and I am really glad I did, mainly because Ms. McPhee is simply glorious in her part. Like all romantic comedies it is formulaic and pretty predictable but somehow that didn't matter because the scenery was great and the whole thing was just so fun to watch. Did I mention that Katharine McPhee looked glorious? How is she not already a major leading actress? She has one of those beautiful faces that just glows on the big screen, and she can do a lot more than just sing and dance, she can actually act. This movie reminded me a lot of Six Days Seven Nights (has anyone ever figured out that title?) though okay not quite that good (hello, Harrison Ford!). Okay, as much fun as it is this movie is totally forgettable, as in you will forget it five minutes after it's over. What you won't forget is Katharine McPhee. As Jack Davenport's character (a Broadway director) said about Katharine McPhee's character in "Smash," she's a STAR!

Well, here's a movie starring people I'd never even heard of. Its plot was a bit far out and somewhat silly. However, it held my attention because the main female character was portrayed by a young lady (Katherine McPhee) who's presence "grew on me" very rapidly. She is extremely attractive and pleasant to watch. Somehow, her general appearance overshadowed the obvious shortcomings of the plot and script and, quite frankly, made the film more than watchable. I'd like to see her in more films. She's a singer, I'm told, but I think she'd do better as an actress. Let's face it...sometimes a beautiful female lead can make a so-so film an entertaining experience.

Right away you get the sense this movie was written for Rob Schneider to be in the lead male role, however, someone decided to replace him with some other guy who gives a wooden and uninteresting performance of lines clearly written for Rob. The only thing that saves this movie from one star is Rob Schneider's brief cameo in it. Lots of recognizable character actors do their best with the parts they play, but nothing saves this film from being a waste of time. The cinematography is all wrong as well. All the scenes are shot with the camera pulled way back as if they were so in love with the background scenery they couldn't bear to leave any of it out.

I thought it would be a funny comedy. It is not. I was so irritated to have given in to the preview. Don't waste your money.

Predictable, but a cute chic flick, perfect for a late night unwind after a long day of work and noise

This movie was delightful from start to finish. The chemistry between the actors really worked and Rob Schneider and Mena Suvari stole the show. I laughed so hard that it made me cry! Don't miss this one!
