A "rags to riches" love story,
By A Customer
This review is from: You and Me, Babe (Hardcover)
This was the first book written by game show producer/host Chuck Barris in the early '70's (before "The Gong Show"), and was basically a fictionalized autobiography of his life at the time. It seems a bit reminicient of "Love Story", but is a good read and a "rags to riches" story on how when you marry for money, you wind up paying for it in the end.....

Not a masterpiece, but for twenty years now I have been unable to forget it. And I guess that says something.

A Must Read,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: You and Me, Babe: A Novel (Paperback)
I read this book when I was in my early teens (over 30 years ago) and enjoyed it so much that have kept that original copy of it ever since. It is the only fictional story book that I have read more than once and I find every few years I will pick it up and read it again. Just purchased a new copy of the book to read because my original copy is officially retired. It is a great story and one that is hard to put down until you have finished it.

BARRIS IS A MASTER OF THE WRITTEN WORD,
By Alfred North "Alfie" (Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You and Me, Babe: A Novel (Paperback)
Barris has done it again. Sex, violence, politics, revolt and war. Not since WAR AND PEACE have I read a book of such stupendous and earth-shattering importance. It reads like a cross betweek LADY CHATTERLY'S LOVER and Dostoyevsky's THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV. Compared to Barris, Lewis Carroll is a mere amateur.

The ALL TIME DEFINITIVE MASTERPIECE, a la James Michener,
By A Customer
This review is from: You and Me Babe (Paperback)
This book should be required reading at every high school in the United States to give insight into the workings of one of the most fertile designer of quality entertainment ever. It should be reprinted in languages and distributed into all third world countries. The text flows so naturally from Mr. Barris' fingers, that I felt as if he were an extention of my own thoughts.
