4.0 out of 5 stars Oh No He Didn't?!?!, July 8, 2008
This review is from: You, Me and He (Paperback)
Donna is dealing with a dilemma that many in relationships find themselves in at one point or another. Her man, Keith, cheated on her. Should she stay or should she go? Donna decides that she and Keith can get past his little indiscretion as he's promised her he will never cheat again and sealed that promise with a new engagement ring. A 3.5 carat round cut solitaire set in platinum to be exact. Enjoying the bliss of engagement and the bling of her ring, a phone call changes it all. Donna learns that Keith has been back in touch with his old college roommate Jarrod. What's wrong with that you ask? Oh, did I forget to mention that Keith cheated on Donna with a MAN, and that man happens to be his old college buddy? Is he or isn't he, Donna must now wonder. Did she make a mistake by taking Keith back in the first place? And does Donna realize she's dealing with a scorned lover that just isn't going to go away easily? She may have won the first battle, but Jarrod is determined to win the war.

"You, Me and He" is a solid debut effort from newcomer Brooke Green. It held my attention and it was entertaining. However, I was somewhat disappointed based on what could have been - the potential this story had. As I read, I always felt that something was missing. This book had all the ingredients to be a real page-turner. You know the kind that make you stay up late trying to see what happens next or has you talking back to the book? This book somehow fell short and didn't bring the intensity it could have. That said, "You, Me and He" is still definitely a book worth checking out.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Confused Blues - 3.5 Rating, May 21, 2008
This review is from: You, Me and He (Paperback)
You, Me and He by Brooke Green follows the lives of two couples, Donna and Keith and Jackie and Jarrod. The story begins with a phone call between Donna and Jackie. The women, strangers to one another, are connected in ways they do not expect. Jackie suspects her emotionally abusive husband of adultery after finding a telephone bill with an odd number she does not recognize. Jackie decides to investigate, so she phones the number and Donna answers. Surely, Jackie has found the "woman" sleeping with her husband but Donna persists that she is not cheating with Jarrod. The two women soon find out their respective "better halves" were the ones corresponding at all hours of the night and early morning. Donna feels like it is de ja vu all over again; she had to deal with this same problem before with her man, Keith, but Jackie is in full denial about her husband. But there is more to this situation than meets the eye.

You, Me and He by Brooke Green is a gripping story that offers a real life prospective on a situation that plagues many relationships today. Many women have found themselves pondering "What happens if I find my man in bed with another man?" or "What happens if the man that I love is in love with another man?" Through prose, author Brooke Green offers readers a chance to observe different outcomes and answers to the aforementioned questions. This book also has a host of characters, main and secondary, that are interesting to say the least. Each character has a certain tick about themselves that makes them who they are, from a woman with "positive" dreams whose mind is set on gold-digger mode to a bisexual man with "mommy issues." You, Me and He is definitely a book that I recommend to all readers; the life choices the characters make are certainly worth the read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Explosive!, June 11, 2008
This review is from: You, Me and He (Paperback)
Donna believes that she's hit the jackpot when she met Keith Reed. He's sexy, intelligent, financially stable, and everything a woman could ask for. But there's one problem: he's bisexual. Instead of throwing in the towel on their relationship, Donna decides to stand by Keith as long as he promises to be faithful to her and only her. She feels that there will be no secrets between them since she knows the truth about his sexuality. Keith is relieved that Donna still wants to be with him despite his sexuality. Keith's world is turned upside down when his secret is threatened to be exposed to the world. To make matters worse, Keith's ex-college roommate Jarrod is obsessed with having Keith all to himself. Jarrod is a successful married attorney with a baby on the way. But this does not stop him from doing everything he can to get Keith away from Donna and back into his life. Jarrod can't accept Keith's rejection and it leads him down a dark and sinister path that can destroy the lives of everyone involved.

You, Me, and He is an electrifying debut novel by Brooke Green. Green brought a unique twist to the typical down-low brother story. The character development is one of the things that really makes this story stand out. Donna was a character that you'll have a love/hate relationship with. You'll sympathize with her predicament in this story but she also had some gold-digging ways. Readers will root for Keith as he tries to move forward with his life with Donna. Jarrod proves that he's the jilted lover from hell. This story is full of heart-stopping drama and shocking twists that will have you flipping the pages. Green also did a wonderful job of incorporating HIV disease into this story. You, Me, and He is a gripping page-turner that is an explosive start to Brooke Green's writing career.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 1st time you fall for something you're a victim, May 23, 2008
This review is from: You, Me and He (Paperback)
You, Me And He

Donna has it all in her fiancé Keith. Keith is as close to perfect as any woman can get. He is smart, has a great job, house, and car. To top it off he is handsome. So you ask what is his biggest flaw? He is Bisexual.

Donna decides to stay by her man's side as he deals with his "demons". She gives him one ultimatum and that is to be faithful to her and only her. Keith does his best to stay faithful. Enter his old college roommate and former lover, Jarrod. Despite being married with a baby on the way, Jarrod is relentless in his quest to win Keith back. Jarrod wants Keith all to himself; he wants them both out of the closet and to live as a couple. With Donna's nemeses back on the scene her perfect little world is threatening to come to an abrupt end. Can Keith stay on the "straight" and narrow? Can Donna continue have faith in her man or will the pressure Jarrod is putting on the relationship be too much for her to handle?

This was a heartfelt story. In today's world with the Down Low man being so prevalent, this was a much-needed book. I love the fact that it's written from the woman's side of the coin. Brooke does a great job expressing the feelings of all the parties involved especially Donna's. I know with me personally I am scared to death to find out I am or have been dealing with a man on the DL and I'm sure it is that way for a lot of women. Throughout the story I often found myself screaming at Donna to get out while she can, lol. I completely understand why she stayed, as her reasoning was she knows what she is getting with Keith, so why take a chance with stepping into another relationship and getting the same result. I constantly wondered- would I have the strength to stay? I believe that was Brooke's intention - to get the reader thinking. She tackles a host of issues from the DL brother to the trust/lack of trust issues, to the STD's so widespread in today's society to the family issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars DSE Reviewer, April 8, 2011
This review is from: You, Me and He (Paperback)
OMG what a story this was..., IDK if i could have stayed around after finding out my husband had-had an homosexual relationship. But Donna does. And the other man..., he is married to a woman, who is pregnant no less. But this is one adulterer that is set on getting what he wants. Even after Donna's husband decides he wants to stay with his wife., he is hell bent on making a one time affair go well beyond that...,
You will walk in Donna's shoes whether you agree with her choices or not, and this story will make you yell, scream and feel every moment in it.
I so LOVED this book...

Brooke Green your first novel is a real page turner. I stayed up all night to read it. Girl for a fist novel this a tough subject to write about, but seem to have nailed it. When is the next book coming out.

Now about the book Donna is a gold-digger, Keith is a cheat, Jarrod is dirt, scum the bottom of the shoe, Dad not much better. I don't know if I could do what Donna did after seeing Keith and Jarrod with her own eyes. Kieth is really conflicted. That why so many people say gay men are not born but it's just perversion. It appears he somehow got caught up in th lust of it all. The pain and suspense in this book is palpitating yet sad.
