Basicall, this album seems to me about a journey. It starts with a young boy's dreams; progresses as he travels to Nashsville; his heartbreak over the loved ones left behind; finding new love; giving that new love up; and ultimately returning home. Maybe I'm just reading too much into this CD.

Okay, if you aren't into country music philosophy, try this: this is a great CD! That better? Seriously, Marcel is a new talent to be reckoned with--his voice alone soars, and his songwriting is pretty darned good.

Let's take a few of the songs. "Country Rock Star," "Nothing to Lose," "Perfect Situation," "The Working Day," and even "Tennessee" show Marcel's "rapping" talent: the abilty to speak fast, quickly, and eloquently. Not that they're rap songs; no, they're country, country/pop, and even a little country/bluegrass. Marcel's sense of humor shines on this album as well, especially on "Perfect Situation;" hell, who WOULDN'T want Shania Twain to sing "You Win My Love" to them?

Also take his influences, expressed on the opening track; John Cougar, Springsteen, Brooks & Dunn, The Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, etc. You hear them all (yes, all of them) on this album, somewhere, in some form. Whether it's the humorous uptempo "Country Rock Star," "Perfect Situation," "Nothin to Lose," or the down-home travelling songs "Tennessee" and "This Old Diesel," you will be taken through a world of genres and influences. Incredible stuff.

Okay, what have I missed? A good CD...you know that by now, don't you? Either you've listened to it and know what I'm talking about, or you've read this review and others and trust what you hear. Marcel, although only one-named, is someone to watch. I know that gets said a lot, in situations like these...however, between "You, Me, & the Windshield" (couldn't resist), Marcel is one hell of a singer/songwriter. Buy this CD...and say you were there when...

Wow is all I can say! I bought this CD the day it came out after a long wait! It honestly is one of the greatest country cd's of all time! I have seen Marcel in concert 3 times already and he is SPECTACULAR! he has an amazing voice and an amazing talent for music! BUY THIS CD, you wont regret it!!!!!!

There's just one word to describe this album - BRILLIANT!

Marcel's debut album contains something for everyone: heartrending and heartwarming ballads right through to rip roaring barnburners. I challenge anyone to keep their feet still when listening to 'Country Rock Star' or not to smile when you hear 'Take It'.

The production style is crisp, fresh and vibrant and blends both traditional and contemporary instruments in a unique way. Better still, the album is not overproduced, so Marcel's vocals come through crisp, clear and unhindered.

Marcel has a tremendously versatile voice and can sing with genuine pathos and humour; he can rap and then can just let it go on the up-tempo numbers. On top of that he's a great songwriter. Marcel is a genuinely talented individual who richly deserves success. It's very rare for me to like every song on an album but I can truly say that each and every song is a real gem. It's hardly been out of the CD player since I bought it.

If you only have $15 to spend on an album this year, don't look any further. Just go and buy 'You, Me and the Windshield'. You will not be disappointed.

I just came back from seeing Marcel play a songwriter's round in Nashville tonight and I couldn't resist saying a few words. I could say so much and be so much more eloquent (believe me!) about this - but first and foremost: please buy this CD. NOW! I bought it when it came out and hearing some of the songs again I feel like no time has passed. Even though it's been seven years, apparently. Scanning through some of these reviews very quickly there's one thing I HAVE to point out because it looks like maybe no one else did - "I Won't Hold You Down" is simply breathtaking. Awesome beyond words. Back when I attempted to take some voice and guitar lessons in college it was one of two songs I braved to present to my instructors. Both were pretty taken with it (the other was Cyndi Thomson's "I Always Liked That Best," FYI - maybe that'll give another hint as to what my musical tastes are). Anyway, I own soooo many albums, if you only knew - and follow the careers of countless artists and/or songwriters. But "You, Me, and The Windshield" will NEVER fall out of my top five. It holds its own in every way and is truly an album you can't put down (so to speak). You shouldn't have to skip ANY tracks. Marcel is still out there, by the way, and if there's a God it won't be long before he has more music out for the masses to hear and buy. He does have some new songs for download at least, so please do some searching for them! He also directs videos, some of which are "She Won't Be Lonely Long" by Clay Walker and "Love is Love is Love" - the current single by Anthony Smith. (Oh, and FYI tonight at the show - he combined "Nothin' to Lose" and "Country Rock Star" - talk about breathtaking! But in a different way, lol). If you find it to download I highly suggest "One Big Church." He co-wrote the song "Backwards", recorded by Rascal Flatts. His version is on his MySpace. Oh yeah - and he co-wrote the current single by none other than Trace Adkins, entitled "This Ain't No Love Song."

Bottom line, buy this and hope and pray for the best when it comes to getting new music. Maybe you'll have a new favorite to add to your top five, too. :) It is very highly recommended and very highly underrated.

I cant believe that an artist this talented is still mostly unknown! I hear his song "Tennessee" on After Midnight for pick it or flick it, and I called in and picked it; unfortunatly, the majority of people who called flicked it!! I was so dissappointed, but I cant believe that "Nothin To Lose" is such a hit with someone else! Congrats to Marcel for that, but I think his version is just as good, or better!! Cant wait for album number 2!!

I really liked this CD, especially "Tennessee" I love that song. I also really like "Country Rock Star". He has a great voice!! These days, I am not impressed with alot of the music coming out, but I definetly like this album!!

If you like upbeat country music this CD is for you. The first track Country rock star makes you want to get out of your seat and dance. He tones down for "Take it" a sweet song. The working day a song that anybody could relate to. I am looking forward to seeing more of his wonderful music. There is not a track on this CD I don't like. Every song is one that you can turn up your CD player and sing out loud to.

I was fortunate enough to hear Marcel from Coke's website and I simply was addicted to his rhythmic style. I then downloaded some of his songs and didn't stop there. It was off to the store to purchase his cd and I am proudly blastin his tunes out of my car. TO say I disliked country was an understatement. I couldn't find any artists I really liked but Marcel has such an upbeat quick style that it's hard to not enjoy listening to him. I am impressed. He is by far one of the best artists to come out in the past few years. Three cheers for the boy that's reinvented country.

Marcel can't catch a break for his own stuff. he's written/co-written hits that you would recognize, but for some reason his own album didn't take off. his voice isn't 'traditional' country, rather making you think more of an emerging songwriter - which is exactly what he is! more of a bryan white than a travis tritt. some of the themes are repetitive on this first album, but the the material is solid and speaks plainly, like good music should (and like country music is meant to be). i'm truly a fan and am anxious to hear new stuff. someone get this guy promoted, he's good!

This CD is Amazing! Not only can this guy sing,he is a fantastic songwriter! I have actually had this CD in my CD player since the day it came out! I love the current release "Tennessee".
The lyrics are just so beautiful! A future number one!
"Missing You" is my favorite on the CD,what a beautiful song.
The duet with Jessica Andrews"I Won't Hold You Down" should be the next single from this CD.Their voices are simply amazing
together!"Annie Divine" another great song which is a fun "crank it up" type of song to listen to on the road."Take It" has the most amazing lyrics I have heard in a song in a LONG time,makes me smile! I just cannot say enough about this CD,just buy it and see for yourself!
Marcel has a unique style and voice, and if radio would give this guy a chance to be heard, he will definately be climbing to the top of the charts!
