Book Description

Kate has locked herself out of her new apartment building for the third time in a week. She’s on the stoop in the rain, barefoot, shivering and soaked to the skin. Her neighbor, Eric, arrives home in the nick of time and lets her in. That’s twice now he’s saved the day. When he invites her for a quick supper, how can she say no?
Eric has been waiting for an opportunity to get to know Kate. His kitchen window faces hers across the courtyard and he noticed her right away. How could he not, with her lovely halo of short curls and her beautiful smile? When he finds her stranded on the stoop, he gets to play the hero. When she agrees to his dinner invitation, he hopes he’ll get to play a lot more than that.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

You Might Just Get It began as a 5000 word Cougar challenge. The story was picked up for an anthology, The Cougar Book. Do I believe a twenty-nine year old man might find a forty-one year old woman attractive? Absolutely!

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay read. April in OR September 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
First off, they should have mentioned or hinted that this was a "cougar" book, I'm not a big fan of the whole cougar thing.
Second, there wasn't much of a connection for me, it was here your food, now lets have sex. The sex was good but I have a whole problem with the age gap. I guess that's just me.
Third, it just ends. No what happens a few months later or years later. It just ends. I guess I can't complain to much because of the price, so if you want just the sex side of the story and are'nt looking for a "story" than read this ebook.
Fourth, I gave this 2 stars because of the ok sex, there was nothing special about it, it was your "typical" sex scenes.

4.0 out of 5 stars good October 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had not read anything from this author before and decided to give her a try. It was a good quick read you do not realize the age difference that is stated by another reviewer until a little while into the book the age thing did not cause a problem for me. This story is about two people who are mutually attracted to one another age should not and is not a factor in this. It is a good quick read that I would highly recommend

This one is a great read for those who like a sexy, short romance. The characters were cute and the story gave you enough as not to feel cheated and have to read a novel. I enjoyed it.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Might Just Get It...And Boy Does He Ever! September 13, 2012
By Bonnie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well, if ever there was a time to get to know your sexy neighbor Kate, it truly is when she locks herself out of her apartment and has to stand in the pouring rain. And just because her neighbor Eric rescues her, doesn't mean he won't take advantage of the women he has been lusting over since she moved in. Need I say more, except the sex is sinfully delicious!

If you're looking for a quick sexually stimulating hot read, this short story will do the trick. Definitely recommend it for those readers on the go!

3.0 out of 5 stars You Might Just Get It August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok, it was for sure an erotic read but not off the charts which I am ok with for a short read. I do like to read Cougar stories because if gives me hope in my future down the road. Especially when you look ay statistics that women out number men as you get older. This one started out ok. It just was lacking in some ways. Partly in its sudden ending with no follow through. Also, the way he kept calling her "lover" drove me nuts. Which kept throwing me off because it really seemed like he was into her. I do think overall it is worth the read but just understand it is short & for me the ending was not to my liking.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Just Might Get It (short story) by Julia Barrett February 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
You Might Just Get It is a short, hot and fun contemporary read. It’s only 15 pages long and easily fits in-between some lengthier novels, making it refreshing and handy if you only have a few minutes to spare. Due to the content I would recommend it for readers of 17 yrs plus.

Although it doesn’t mention it in the blurb this book does cover age difference, as Kate is in her early forties and Eric in his twenties. I found this area of the story interesting as not too many authors explore these types of situations. Kate is an attractive, sexy woman who certainly is young at heart, and Eric likes a woman with experience and maturity. He quite possibly regards Kate as a challenge, to see if he can win her affections over. It is obvious that Eric is serious about Kate. Julia Barrett has written this well and made these characters believable.

However, some aspects were a little too convenient for my liking; the woman he liked happened to be the one he could help and she doesn’t take her time in getting to know him. Although for a short read, initially written as a Cougar story, it is understandable that the characters become intimate fairly quickly.

I am still unsure how I feel about Eric’s character. He’s a young guy that finds himself attracted to his neighbour. But as they share dinner together and it is revealed how he sees her through his window, it does seem a little creepy and stalker-ish! And then, as they become intimate, my feelings change again as he leaves you spellbound and totally into the story. With a few more pages to delve into the lives of Eric and Kate a little more, the reader would feel a little closer to the characters.

You Might Just Get It makes a great, few minutes read. It is hot, sensual and very physical throughout as well as being well written. Don’t let it get away!

More About the Author

If one word describes me, it's eclectic. Or so my friends say. I'm a lover of books, poetry, art, history, baseball, barbecue, chocolate, coffee, children, animals and the great outdoors. I'm a hospice nurse as well as a writer, but I got my first job at the age of twelve so believe me when I tell you if my heroines are doing it, I've probably done it. At the heart of every one of my stories is a real life event. (Even in Captured!)

If I was pressed to brand my romances, I guess I'd say I write romance for the thinking woman. Or I try. I layer my stories with meaning - I have fun, yes, but I draw on my literary background and I love nothing more than to sprinkle a special pixie dust composed of one part mythos, one part symbolism. I'm quite fond of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung.

Family is everything to me. I keep my kids private, but my mom and dad and my poor husband are occasionally fair game! And I talk about my German shepherd, Jake, all the time.

I am also a hospice nurse and I write nonfiction-- articles for medical and nursing journals. I have a full-length work of nonfiction regarding my experiences with hospice: One Foot In Heaven, Journey of a Hospice Nurse.
