After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I almost didn't purchase this book. However, I couldn't stop thinking about it and decided I would buy it anyway. I sure am glad I did! The book was inspiring, interesting, intriguing and well-thought out. I have not read any other books by Rosemary Altea, but after seeing her interview on "Larry King Live" I was interested in the topic. I felt that her personal stories added a lot to the book and kept it moving forward. I appreciate her honesty in saying that taking control of your openness to the spiritual world (i.e., through her excercises) can take a long time to develop. I think a lot of people hope to read a book like this and instantly be able to communicate with the spirit world - but she sets your expectations correctly. Anyone looking for guidance and a clearer understanding of what it is like to communicate with the spirit world, should read this book.

The whole point is missed when one worries about superb editing. It's the spirit of this piece of work that we must address with open minds. Steinbeck's works were notorious in their need of massive editorial work, but the spirit of his work certainly moved the world. Rosemary is a gift....a rare gift. She came to offer us ways of peace in this tumultuous life. She is not a grammarian or a historian or a biblical scholar. She is a nice person with a special gift from God. Through her books, a gateway was opened for me. It is not a floodgate as she encounters, but it has been a wonderful experience. In meditation, a late grandfather showed me the two homes he was building. Why, I ask him? He told me his sons (my uncles) were coming home. The family laughed, but they decided it was time for a big family reunion. Wonderful hugs and conversations and love renewed among all. 2 months later the older uncle died during a routine angioplasty. 3 months later the younger uncle climbed off the roof he was cleaning, eased himself into a patio chair and drifted off peacefully into eternity. I doubt the visit with my grandfather would have ever happened if Rosemary had not prepared me through her writings. Can we learn to ignore the tree stumps and experience the magnificent forest before us?

This is the third Altea book I've read, and it differs from the others, because it provides specific, actionable steps to take to tune in to one's own power. The exercises are deceptive-they seem to simple and basic, yet I have discovered that that's the POINT! Do them, do them, do them -- repeat them, repeat them, repeat them. They work. They make a difference. This isn't a book intended simply as a good read -- for that, go back to her two earlier books, the wonderful Eagle and the Rose and the second book, Proud Spirit. I just bought her tape on healing from amazon, and it's excellent -- simply as a relaxation tool if nothing else. So many of these products and authors disapoint, but Rosemary Altea is REAL.

After seeing the author on Larry King, I wanted to read more about the topic of spiritual healing and connecting with loved ones who have passed on. The book sounded very interesting after listening to her presentation. I agree with a previous customer who reviewed this book. There were so many errors within the book, that it took away any credibility this author states she has. If she is such a high profile, spiritual healer and medium, better advice and editing before publishing should have been done. I was extremely disappointed when reading this book.

If an author can't get the quotes on which she bases some of her entire sections correct, she doesn't deserve to have been published. In Altea's book, she misquotes Gerard Manley Hopkins' "God's Grandeur." The line is "The world is charged with the grandeur of God." CHARGED. She proceeds to make an entire point using the line as "The world is changed with the grandeur of God." CHANGED. "The world is changed, blah blah blah. . . ." And I just turned to that page randomly. I could cite other typos and errors, as well. I could not believe that the book had not been edited or copyedited at all, but that's what has happened. I cannot trust anything this woman says in the book with a glaring misstatement like that. If she is that careless and can't read properly, well, why is she published? I didn't really click into any authenticity here, although I certainly believe in the existence and accessibility of God, the spirit world, the collective unconscious, and everything about healing oneself and accessing the flow state. Please go find one of the GOOD books about the topic, and show this publishing house that you will not support them by buying authors who are this careless.--Chantal Fox

Interesting book, but I tired of her constant references to her childhood. She had a difficult childhood, no doubt, but for a person who is telling her readers to not live in the past, it seems she does a lot of it.

Some people say this book is a waste of time and that you can make things happen by thinking about it. These people are too short sighted to look inside themselves and believe. Rosemary talks about being "at home". I believe that is half of the struggle is believing and being conscious of our surroundings. I've had trouble with the exercises in the book. They are intensive and are not able to be done quickly. They aren't easy and they're not meant to be. Learning about ourselves is never easy. For me, just picking up the book and reading it, I've had the strangest sensations. I e-mailed Rosemary about it and she said many people have written to her expressing similar things. Don't expect miracles like being able to freely talk to loved ones who have passed, but expect insight into yourself and your life and the possibilities of the afterlife as Rosemary tells it. I recommend this book for anyone willing to believe in her writings in "The Eagle in the Rose" and the "Proud Spirit". This book is definitely worth a try. I am definitely a believer now.

usually i pick up one of her books and do not put it down until i have finished it. her latest book, you own the power, i picked up, read a few chapters, put down and have not looked at it since and that was two weeks ago. i find it incredibly boring and i do not think i will finish it.

I discovered this book on my first visit to the United States. It opened my eyes and my soul. I would never have thought that this book would be able to touch my heart and spirit with such a great warmth - so deep and powerful. The concept of "beeing more at home" was a revelation to me and really not so easy to grasp. we are all so close to our own selves that we often lose sight of the most important thing - our lives. This book brought to mind another wonderful book which I read which deals with similar ideas but with a somewhat different approach. The book is called "Working on Yourself Doesn't work" by Ariel and Shya Kane. Being here in the moment and continuously being aware of YOUR OWN life is for me very much the same as "being at home". Each approach reinforced the other and helped me find a new liveliness. I can heartily recommend both books - an wish all a more fullfilling and joyous life. Anke Wahnschaft - Berlin, Germany.

This is indeed a different book for Rosemary, but I can't get enough of what she has to teach those of us who are looking for a more spiritual path to follow. Reading this book takes an open mind from beginning to end. We all have the power to connect with the spirits that have passed on. We all have the power to heal not only ourselves but others. Positive thoughts and energy gives us the power to make our own lives more peaceful and spiritual. I liked the book so much, I also bought the audiobook tapes.
