4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best karaoke CDs I've heard!, March 14, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: You Sing the Show Oliver (Audio CD)
Last year I was in the play, "Oliver!", and they used this CD instead of an orchestra. I bought a copy of this CD to practice with at home, and I was suprised at the quality. While most karaoke CDs sound like they were done with an electronic keyboard, this one sounds like an orchestra is playing along to your singing. It's an excellent CD, and really fun to sing along to. It's much better than you'd expect.
However, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of one problem: the CD is a little quiet. You have to turn the volume up to it's highest setting to hear it really good. It's not too much of a problem though.
I rate this CD 4 1/2 stars because of it's unexpectedly good quality, exceptionally fun music, and extrordinary beautiful orchestra.

My favorite tracks are: "It's a Fine Life", "Oom-Pah-Pah", "Who Will Buy", and "Pick a Pocket or Two".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great orchestra, May 9, 2009

Tom (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Sing the Show Oliver (Audio CD)
The orchestra sounds great on this karaoke cd because the tracks are performed by the National Symphony Orchestra. This is the Jay/TER 1991 London studio cast recording with the Kings College Boys Choir and a full stage cast including Sheila Hancock, Josephine Barstow and Julian Forsyt.
Most Broadway karaoke cds have synthesized orchestra that sound thin and cheesey, but this is a full orchestra recorded recorded in the famous Abbey Road studios.

The only flaw is the guide vocals are a bit overwrought. Instead of using West End performers, the singers are classically trained - which isn't needed for Oliver!.

Buy this cd for the orchestra.
