this rocks!,

Definitely worth it. I mean, it's 80s finnish glam rock, how could you beat that?? I first heard this record because my radio station (WPRB in Princeton) had it, and the cover intruiged me to play it. After that, I had been dying to have a copy myself. I finally found it on LP after a long search, and I can't believe it's out on CD now.

These guys were great, this album rocks -- pure snarl and attitude. You can definitely hear where Mudhoney got their particular groove from in the sounds of Smack. You can't go wrong with any of the songs on this album, to be honest.

Lean & mean rock with punk attitude,

If the Doors had played punk with Heavy Metal riffs, they would have probably sounded like this group. Their next album "Rattlesnake Bite" is still my favorite but it can be very difficult to find, especially in the US. From today's perspective, they might be seen as precursors to Grunge but they sound original! I believe all fans of the Cult and Ian Astbury should definetely check out this band.

Pure'n simple rock'n roll!,

This is real rock'n roll with a piece of punkrock spicing it up.Kaide & co knew how to make melodic raw songs in the true school of The Ramones, Stooges, MC5, Pistols, The Hymans, Sweet and even some old Kiss all mixed up into a boiling pure pot of rock! So buy this if you like any of these bands and especially if you're keen on Finish 80's rock. What else is there to say, this is classic stuff!

Don't be fooled by the Hanoi Rocks tag the only thing that Smack has in common with Hanoi is they're from the same country. These guys are the kings of dirty sleazy raw scumbag rock leaning more to The Stooges, MC-5 and early Sabbath and Alice Cooper. I don't know what it is about rock and roll bands from Finland, Sweden and Norway but most of them do American hard rock better than Americans do.
If you're a fan of Green River, Hellacopters (early stuff),The Black League or 69 Eyes (before they turned into posers) or if you just can't deal with the "hit factory" or "chaos metal" stuff that's out there now and you're needing something with the greasiest grooves check out Smack.

This was made in the 80's and if you like bands that come out of Finland then this should be in your collection. One of the songs was featured on Bam's VIVA LA BANDS Cd.

I bought this album when it came out in the 80's and it still sounds as good now as it did then. Smack was (to me)a perfect blend of MC-5, Stooges, Black Sabbath, (vintage)ALice Cooper and a bit of early Aerosmith. I have picked up most of their stuff over the years and strongly recomend the same to anyone who likes this release, you won't be sorry (particularly with Rattlesnake Bite or any of their live stuff).
