With You Control's twelve customizable modules, you can create custom menus that allow you to get easy and instant access to your iTunes library, address book contacts, iCal events, news, stocks, weather, and more. You Control has no equal, combining a wide variety of functionality and accessibility into one elegant interface.
File System Module
The You Control File System module allows you to navigate through Mac OS X Finder, including local and remote volumes in a familiar menu-style interface. No more double-clicking numerous folders to get to a project file that is eight levels deep on your hard disk. Using the File System module, you can set your project folder to be a custom menu that gives you instant access to your current (or old) project or projects.
The File System module does more than just let you navigate through drives and folders. You can also preview your Word and PDF files and images directly in your custom menu so you always know you are opening the file you need.
The File System module also lets you set hot keys for any folder, file, or application. You may never open another Finder window again.
Calendar Module
The You Control Calendar module allows you to access the Mac OS X calendar program, iCal from any You Control custom menu. You can view all of your scheduled events and to-do items and quickly navigate and explore future days, weeks, months, and years with ease.
With the Calendar module you can choose which of your calendars to display and what information you want displayed in the menu. You can even do all of this without ever having to launch iCal.
Address Book Module
The You Control Address Book module allows you to get quick access to all of your contacts and groups that you have in the Mac OS X Address Book application. You have complete control over which data fields are displayed in your menus.
Just want to see names and phone numbers? Only names and email addresses? Everything including company name, address, and phone number? No problem. You Control's Address Book module will even help you find a map of the address in question.
Clock Module
This is the clock that Apple should have made for you. But since they didn't, we did. After you use the You Control Clock module, you'll wonder how you ever used your Mac without it.
Like all of the other You Control modules, you can control how the clock looks including the font and color. You can add multiple time zones to your clock menu so you can keep tabs on your friends or remote offices. Need to see a calendar view quickly? Don't open your PIM, just click on the Clock menu and get an instant view of the current month, next month, or any number of months you want to see.
iTunes Module
The You Control iTunes module gives you full control over iTunes even when you are not in iTunes. The iTunes modules lets you set hot keys to control any or all of the iTunes controls including Next or Previous Track, Play, Pause, and even the Volume. You can browse your entire iTunes library and playlists using the familiar menu-style navigation method. Simply click on a song and it starts playing.
And because it's okay to have some fun every now and then, the iTunes module throws a little eye candy your way each time the song changes displaying the track name, artist name, and any album artwork you've got in your iTunes library. Let the fun begin.
News Reader Module
If you like to read the news everyday and are tired of having to visit all those different Web sites to get your news headlines, then this is the module for you. The You Control News Reader module allows you to get all of your favorite RSS news feeds in one consolidated custom menu. Browse headlines and story summaries with ease. Click on a headline and you'll be taken directly to that story in your default Web browser.
Like everything else in You Control, how you set it up and customize the News Reader module is up to you. Add all of your RSS feeds into one module or create multiple modules with specific RSS feeds in each. The News Reader module even lets you create a ticker tape in your menu bar with the headlines of your choice.
New to RSS? No problem, we've got you covered with over 40 preset RSS feeds to choose from. Of course, you can always add more. It's up to you.
Pasteboard Module
The ultimate copy utility. That's how the You Control Pasteboard module has been described by many of its users. If you spend any time of your day copying and pasting multiple items from one document to another (and who doesn't?), then this is the module for you.
The Pasteboard module lets you store up to 50 of the most recently copied items (including text and images) in one convenient location. Access these items from a custom menu that resides in the Mac menu bar or from a menu that appears instantly when you press your own custom key combination.
Processes Module
This module brings out the power user in all of us. The You Control Processes module allows you to display and access any and all currently running processes. You can configure this module as a menu that behaves like the Mac OS 9 application switcher. You can set it as a Hot Key menu that appears anywhere your mouse is when you press your custom Hot Key combination to allow you to easily switch between applications.
If you are in need of viewing the process ID and need the ability to force quit a process, you can also configure this module to allow you to access those commands.
Recents Module
Tired of always having to move your mouse all the way across that 23-inch Cinema Display to the Apple menu to access your most recent applications or documents? Wish you could only see your recent applications? Or maybe just your recent documents? Now, you can access either or both in any custom menu using the You Control Recents module.
Stocks Module
It's never been easier to keep track of your favorite stocks. The You Control Stocks module allows you to create a custom menu that displays stock quotes and other public stock information in any custom menu.
Set up a menu to scroll your stocks in the menu bar just like you see on MSNBC. Has your portfolio gone international? Just enter the appropriate stock or fund symbol and we'll take it from there.
U.S. Weather Module
Don't have that corner office on the 22nd floor of your building with the sweeping views? With the You Control Weather module, you won't need it. This You Control module allows you to access and display the current weather conditions for any zip code in the United States in any of your custom menus.
Making plans for the weekend? Be sure to configure the You Control Weather module to display the forecast along with other weather-specific details such as the humidity, UV index, wind conditions, and more.
Divider Module
Does the phrase "a place for everything and everything in its place" describe your organization style? If it does, the You Control Divider module will come in handy. This module allows you to create a visual separator between the items you have placed in your custom menu. Keep it simple or add colorful text to your menu dividers. It's all up to you.
