Definitly worth the money !,

I bought this book while preparing for the shooting of my first music video. How often do you read a book and find yourself going like: yes, that happened to me too, I recognize the frustation, the excitement, etc. etc. Although written from a definite USA/MTV experience, it was very useful for me in Portugal. No doubt, a great book !

This book has filled in the holes of my knowledge of the music video industry. It is helpful for both novice and the advanced. I personally felt connected to the way the people in this book were creating videos. Well worth the price for someone like me that's interested in persuing this as a career path.

"Excellent book. The only one of it's kind!,

After searching the web for months for music video production "how to's" and finding ZERO, this book is a pleasent but needed suprise. It is unbelieveable to me that there has not been a professional book written on how to make music videos since the format has been around over 20 years! This book is very comprehensive with a lot of insider tips and tricks from the people who do it everyday. I only wish it had more technical info such as lip sync secrets while shooting but because of the abundance of all the other info, you'll overcome any problem. Because this is the only book of it's kind in publication, it is a must to anyone aspiring to put a band on MTV! Aloha Jeff Mahon

I purchased this book back in 2000 when I was a film student. I purchased it hoping to read about about the joys and pains of being a music video director, something at the time I desperatly wanted to be. However this book was filled with nothing but a bunch of low budget, no talent hacks crying about how they should of, could of, would of. At the end of the read I felt as if I was cheated out of 15 bucks. For anyone who is looking to jump into the music video game, don't read this book, the best advice always comes from those who have mastered the field, so save your money and read up on other video directors like hype williams, f gary grey, paul hunter, spike jones, just to name a few, those are the ones this book should have featured.

This book I found to be a great guide on the how-to of making your own Music Videos. Being in a band, myself, I was inspired by the processes they describe and outright guerilla rock video production. A must have if you are interested in producing your own rock video!

An excellent guide to wannabe music video makers.,

I have read and reread many passages in this book and have stood there. As an Indie video producer of no-budget production videos and one music video I find the info in this book inspiring and disheartening all at the same time. For anyone that wants to make music videos, this book is a must read. It is frank and honest to an almost painfull degree. The authors wear they're battle scars well and tell it like it is.

Useful but dry.,

I realise that this book has a lot of very useful information but a lot of it seems pretty obvious and it is quite a dull read. Still, I commend the author on embarking on such a task and trying to promote indepenent film-making, even if his own videos stink for the most part... which they do.
