5.0 out of 5 stars A great read for skeptics!
For a long time, I approached the idea of animal communication with the skepticism Janine Adams describes in this book. But, unlike other authors of books on this subject, Adams doesn't gussy up her prose with mystical, psuedo-poetic New Age-y language. In a clear, down-to-earth style, she describes how animal communication works, how it can improve your relationship...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but dated
This is one of the earlier books on animal communication and it lacks the detail provided in offerings by Marta Williams and Amelia Kinkade. It begins with background blurbs of the animal communicators the author has contacted. Some, like Sonya Fitzpatrick, Penelope Smith and Patty Summers, are fairly well know, the others are not. The bulk of the book revolves around...

For a long time, I approached the idea of animal communication with the skepticism Janine Adams describes in this book. But, unlike other authors of books on this subject, Adams doesn't gussy up her prose with mystical, psuedo-poetic New Age-y language. In a clear, down-to-earth style, she describes how animal communication works, how it can improve your relationship with your pet, and how anyone can learn to do it. Her pragmatic approach has helped me become more open to the idea of communicating directly with my own beloved pet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating book, January 31, 2002
This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
This is a very enjoyable book, well worth its money.

It will make you cry, it will make you laugh, it will make you think and it can help you start communicating with your animal friend.

This book has many stories from various professional animal communicators. Stories of lost and hurting animals, of troubled and happy ones. What never seizes to amaze me is the capacity of those creatures to love. While their owners/guardians are troubled by guilt, the animals rarely hold bad feelings about them.

The greater part of the book is consumed on these stories. However, the last chapter is a "How to" guide, compiled of exercises and techniques of various professionals. Some are easy, some are impossible, but most of them have results. The info on many animal communicators (phone number, web site etc) are also listed there.

In the US there are workshops on animal communication. However, if you are unable to attend one, this book is a good place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical attitude, June 5, 2000
By
This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
Janine Adam's book opened up areas of possibility that I had never contemplated. She presents a variety of reasons for using an animal communicator. She helps the reader not to feel silly about the subject - many people may associate animal communication with the psychic hotlines at a 900 number, but the abilities of these communicators are presented in a non-"new agey" way that keeps your feet planted on the ground. Even skeptics will appreciate the grounded attitude she presents. The possibility of gleaning background information about an animal who was a stray or from a shelter is a tantalizing one, as is the ability to help diagnose a medical condition. Getting to the root of a behavior problem can be accomplished faster with a communicator. One sad facet is that the one area you would think communicators would be most helpful - finding lost animals - is actually the hardest one for many communicators, and some refuse to take on that heartbreaking task.

One of the most interesting aspects is the different ways that communicators understand the animals. Some hear words, some see visual images. When discussing medical concerns, a communicator can feel where the animal's pain is located, and what kind of pain it is.

The anecdotes she presents illustrate the usefulness of the information that can be gained from an animal communicator's services. Her subject is well researched, and the book is an easy, interesting read. She opened my mind to possible uses and benefits of animal communication. For me, it's hard to get away from the concept that the subject is ridiculous, but the book allows me to think of the concept without feeling skeptical, or as though I'm about to be used by a con man who is going after my savings. Her book opened my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for any pet owner!, June 6, 2000
This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
Janine Adams really opened my eyes and mind with this wonderful, informative, heartwarming book. All the while I was reading, I had questions popping into my mind that I wanted to ask my dog. Ms. Adams inspired me to call one of the communicators mentioned in her book and I am looking forward to our session. I never dreamed that I would ever accept the concept of being able to communicate with my pet, and now, because of Ms. Adams' book, I've taken the steps to do just that. It is not only well written, it is bound to make you smile and also bring tears to your eyes. Our pets have so much to say, if we would only listen. Thanks to Ms. Adams, more of our animal companions will have a chance to be heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can Talk To Your Animals, June 6, 2000
This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
The book, You Can Talk to Your Animals, is a must for anyone who has pets. It opens up a whole new world of communication and insight. There is a way that we can know what our pets are feeling and thinking and Janine Adams tells you how. It's not a silly book, not a new agey mystical book, but a practical book, that will make the biggest skeptic a believer.

This book explains the concept of animal communication, what to expect from a communicator, and how you and your animals may benefit from using one. The examples are interesting and I very much enjoyed the book. Will help even skeptics understand the concept and how it can help them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable Read - even if you don't believe it!, February 23, 2001

This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
I read this book the other day and was very touched by it. I don't know if I totally buy into the animal telepathy ideal, but it deffinately helped me to see our furry friends in a different light. I can't see any reason why any type of animal lover wouldn't enjoy reading this book. Adams really lends animals a voice and the stories are heart-felt and touching.. It's a good short read... I would love it if she did a "chicken soup for animals" type book!

If you can sincerely try to communicate with your animal, I think you will have some type of success. Adams has good advice. =)

This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
The bulk of the book revolves around stories from the pros and the experience of the author. There is only a very small section at the end that outlines how some of the communicators actually get in touch with the animals.

This is not a terrible book---it reads like a series of magazine articles(not surprising since the author writes for magazines). Parts are too repetitive, like the way the author constantly reminds us that her dogs are two standard poodles in almost every chapter. I take issue with that portion of the book which describes doing a "body scan" on an animal and taking their pain and then instructing them that it should "stay with them". As many alternative practitioners will tell you, it is not necessary to experience the pain to locate it and help the subject. The instructional portion is spare at best.

It is a quick and easy read but if you are serious about learning to communicate with your pets, there are many other offerings that provide detailed training.

The book tells you how to communicate with animals using an animal communicator which is OK. I thought it was about teaching you to communicate with animals. I was disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars you can talk to your animals, December 14, 2001
This review is from: You Can Talk to Your Animals: Animal Communicators Tell You How (Paperback)
I first found this book when I was searching for information when my cocker spaniel companion,Sissy, was diagnosed with cancer. This book will give you a whole new perspective on what your animals thought processes are and show you how much more your animal friends are a part of your life than you think. The chapter on illness and on death of your loved ones quite possibly kept me sane as we went through the grieving process. I will gaurantee this book will amaze you. I have given it as gifts to many other people, who love it.
