Try this app right now on your computer. You control the app with your mouse and keyboard to experience it like you would on your phone. Test drive this app before you buy.
How does this work?
Clicking the “Test drive now” button launches a copy of this app on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers. When you interact with the simulated phone using your mouse and keyboard, we send those inputs over the Internet to the app running on Amazon EC2 — just like your mobile device would send a finger tap to the app. Our servers then send the video and audio output from the app back to your computer. All this happens in real time, allowing you to explore the features of the app as if it were running on your mobile device.

I have never seen so many fake 5 star reviews solicited by a dev in any other app. One of their plants was even stupid enough to state right in the review that she was asked by her friend who developed the app to rate it from her Kindle!! (over on the free version of this app, where you will also find other reviews by friends intended to pad the ratings). When a dev has to pad the ratings up hoping to fool customers, it means even they do not think the app can survive on its own merits.

As far as the game goes, it really is ridiculously difficult to figure out three words of varying lengths based on a loosely defined (at best) category. Maternal type foods are tomato and holllandaise?? Are they kidding?? And the arm category would not recognize ulna, but instead, wing. The answers are not hard or for the more intellectually blessed, trust me. Has nothing to do with being SMART or having a superior vocabulary. Sometimes I found more appropriate words for the first word, but was not accepted because the creator had three OTHER words in mind. And the words are SO TOTALLY "OFF" for what you would "think" the category even is! You are not even told THAT!! You have to guess what the category is by the annoying cutesy titles. So if THAT is not known, how do know what category the words even belong to?

Also, I got a 1st word correct, had to leave the app for a few minutes, then went back to the puzzle and the first word was MISSING and ther were only 7 letters left to complete the other 2 words that added up to 12 letters! The UI is a little screwy. No mute button for the music in the is just dev laziness, as is not making the app go to the external SD card by default.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well on Kindle Fire July 29, 2012
By Rick

On bad boy chefs I knew one the other two I had to google. Of the two I knew one but not the spelling. The other guy I didn't know at all. Navigation worked well.

There is a hint key that provides one letter of the answer. There is also a facebook ask your friends.

All and all a very good word game. From some reviews this game is not for everyone. If you like crossword puzzles you surely will like this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars What can I say. Its HARD. July 29, 2012

This application is very fun, but sometimes difficult, as the catagory clues sometimes are not really helpful. Also, some of the puzzles are dated. Not a nick-at-nite fan? Tou may have some research to do...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not An Easy Game April 20, 2012
Verified Purchase
This game is NOT easy. The title of each puzzle takes figuring out even before you can start the puzzle. Examples: Duran Duran's Hunger (wolves), Carries ingredients (cosmo). I have played many word games, and I do like a challenge, but this game is just oddly and incredibly difficult. The developers seemed to want to make it extremely hard to guess the answers, and offer no hints (free ones anyway).

I don't like how the letters are randomly scattered across the board and you have to shake your device to scramble them. This is not how letters are viewed in the real world, and it makes it more difficult to figure out the puzzles. Also, you can't access the answers, and if you are not on Facebook, you have only the "hints" button for help (in actuality, no much help). I tried for a while to play this game, but ultimately deleted. Such a shame since I actually paid for it and didn't get it as a FAOTD...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good App; Getting Better August 6, 2012
Verified Purchase
I was having the same problems with this app that others had, but instead of writing a review about it, I emailed the devs. I learned that the issues have been fixed in an update that Amazon had yet to push. Comparing the app's version numbers on the Play Store and Amazon App Store confirmed this to be true.

All of the negativity shown towards the devs is unwarranted. They're good guys who took the time to personally respond to my concerns on a Sunday. And not only did the devs respond, but also the owner of the company himself. They're just a small shop who really care about getting a good quality app out there and are working hard to do so.

I had uninstalled it, but I will try it again when Amazon posts the new version. I think the devs have earned at least that much from me. Companies who actually care are too few and far between these days.

4.0 out of 5 stars decent enough August 7, 2012
Verified Purchase
An interesting twist on the usual crossword and word puzzle games. Each group of puzzles has an overall theme, and each puzzle has a crossword-like clue that corresponds to the three words in the puzzle. Some are easy, some are easy when it dawns on you what the clue means, and some are just hard even when you know what the clue means. The "hint" feature is so-so, as all it does it reveal one letter in each of the words in the puzzle. The "ask a friend" thing seems kinda dumb and it gets in the way more than anything since i'll never use it.

Perfect? No.

Decent enough time-killer? Yes.

1.0 out of 5 stars glad to know there are fake 5-star reviews July 29, 2012
By lakes
I downloaded this when it first became the FAOTD and wondered why there were so many 5-star reviews so early. After wasting more time than I care to admit trying to play this junky app I was relieved to learn that many of the 5-star reviews are fake. That explains a lot because this app is truly terrible. Other reviewers have described very well what's wrong with it. I just want to add my 1-star vote for disreputable developers who post a half-baked app and then pad the reviews so people are fooled into downloading it.
