This book gives you a great chance to find out about the crazy world of the emergency room without actually being there. It is well-written and you can't put it down!

You are the ER Doc is an easy and entertaining read. We had great fun reading the cases aloud to each other on a recent road trip. The author writes about emergency room cases utilizing common sense, empathy, and humor. Real (instead of exotic) cases are presented. It's obvious the physician-author remembers to put the patient first -- instead of the insurance company or reimbursement.

This book isn't full of wild tales from the ER. Instead, it puts YOU in the shoes of an ER doc. The cases are realistic, short, and sweet. The doctor who wrote it even has a sense of humor. This would be a great book for any pre-med or nursing student.

I agree, it's for a younger crowd. The cases are short little chapters but it's not a choose your own adventure kind of journey. You read the next line and find out the answer and you're kind of lead by the hand. Plus most of the answers seem to be " (e) All of the Above " Sorry to say, it's not work buying new.

Maybe I am a tough critic but I am a medical buff and not easily pleased with boring cases. I have degrees in chemistry and biology and was very disappointed in the grade school level difficulty of solving the cases. I bought the book with the anticipation of testing my medical knowledge but once I opened the first case knew the book was better suited for a teenager. If you have no medical experience, perhaps this would be a less than nap worthy read but if you know anything about science in general...skip it.
