About the Author

Rae was born in Oklahoma, one of seven children. Her family moved to Los Angeles, California when Rae was ten years old. When WWII started, Rae's father moved them "over the mountain (east)" so they could have land to grow vegetables. They were survivors, and knew well how to survive because of their farm in Oklahoma. Rae never had any notion of writing until very recently, after retiring from a career as a real estate broker. This is her first book (she helped write a song for a CD to benefit the families of wounded veterans recently also). Rae feels strongly about the need to quit smoking. She is absolutely astounded that with what we know about the devastation of smoking, kids are still starting! Why? Do they need more education? Parental supervision? She hopes her book can be used as a tool by educators and parents alike - she envisions this little book being used as stocking stuffers at Christmas, and basket stuffers at Easter...well, you get the idea.

I can't believe all of the pills, patches, tricks and money spent on quitting smoking. The truth is, you can quit if you WANT to....but there are definitely some "ground rules" to follow. Rae outlines these in a non-threatening, realistic, and practical way. I was watching Dr. Oz on Oprah weeks before reading Rae's book, and VOILA! What she actually experienced and did to successfully stop smoking so many years ago (and she was a chain smoker) Dr. Oz also listed as THE ways to stop smoking! Why? Because it's the truth! This little book should be a constant companion - in the hip pocket, on the desk of, in the car, and on nightstands of every smoker who wants to NOT become a statistic....and in case you don't know, smoking kills more people annually than half a dozen of the other "top killers" combined! My smoking friends and family will be getting this for Christmas!
