I find Jon's work a prime example of the best kind of comedy. In the style of South Park and The Onion, his work takes the typical conventions of music and video and turns them on their ear. Not sure if Im expaining this correctly, but for example - the music and music videos for "Two Girls One Cup Song" and "Alone In The Universe" (just realized this one isnt on the album, WAHHH!) look and sound like typical overly-emotive touching folky (even cheesy?) love songs, but then you get to the lyrics and they are the exact opposite of what you are expecting for that style of music.
Same goes for "Everyday Normal Guy" I&II and "Show Me Your Genitals" I&II - these poke fun at the hyper-masculine bravado and sexuality in hardcore rap music, using the musical and vocal conventions of the style, but with lyrics and delivery that are completely the opposite.

This is what makes Jon so funny...and in my mind, even brilliant. It is rare to find someone who blends music and humor so perfectly, and because Jon does this so well, he is a superstar to me.

And I must also state how envious but thrilled I am to hear "Pop Song" -- my musician partner and I have been complaining about how horrible, empty, and talentless current pop music can be, and wishing we could create a song that uses all those conventions, but Jon perfectly beat us to it! I just cant believe how spot-on his parody of current pop music is...brilliantly done.

I just bought the album (wish I had a pressed CD for him to sign!), and I will be in the front row at the Nashville show. Maybe Jon will let me sing backup harmonies on "High As F@*k" ...fingers crossed!

I first heard of Jon Lajoie back when I first heard of Mike O'Connell.
Then, Jon started making more videos than Mike. The current total for videos made by Mike: One. The current total of videos made by Jon: 35. (assuming you don't count the "from the road" video) Obviously Jon's career as a musician and comedian have matured (though he may not have). Jon's album is being featured on Amazon.com along with other huge hits such as "Incredibad" by The Lonely Island, and by huge steaming turds such as Bo Burnham's album which doesn't even deserve to be named. I recommend buying this album. As an added bonus, if you purchase this album on Compact Disc, the media comes with a pre-made hole in the middle, which you can probably find a use for on your Sunday afternoons. Or, you could just listen to it.

Jon Lajoie rivals modern rappers with comedic wit and also follow the beat like the best of them. Mimicking modern rap to grungy metal and also ballad acoustics with his own twist, Jon Lajoie scores big on this album. Check it out and remember that it's comedy and meant to entertain.

Well, after getting completely hooked on Jon over the past week or two on Youtube, I had to get the album. It's great being able to pop the disc in while driving around, but what is up with the "Phone Call" track? Am I missing the point of it somewhere???
