We just got our delivery of the Parrot book yesterday from Amazon, It is a masterpiece. I bought a bunch because I love them so much and we give them as gifts to our friends and families kids. We probably have 200 hundred children's books (we have read to our children to bed since they were born and still do) and I can honestly say there is not one that has such rich illustration and detail as yours. Keep up the good work, my kids love them and so do our friends kids. The paintings keep my kids attention like no other books we have. You definitely have a fan in me as well as my children. Thanks again for doing such a great job and making so many kids enjoy your books and art. You are truly an inspiration to those who aspire to draw. Keep up the good work, we look forward to many more.

The other book the illustrator did was Counting Little Geckos. If you get the Parrot book you must get her other one, the Counting Little Geckos. I was so impressed by the illustration I bought a bunch of them as well.

Owning large parrots I found this book to be a wonderful explaination for younger children. It's colorful images and simple wording make learning about parrots fun and interesting for the little ones. Great book !!

How can I have lived this long and never noticed that two of a parrot's toes are on backwards? This playful and original book about life as a parrot is as entertaining as it is educational. My view of parrots is forever changed!

This fun 330-word picture book encourages the young reader to enter a fantasy world in which he imagines himself to be a parrot. Parrot behaviors are pictured, often with the child in the story imitating them.

I like the Creative Minds page cautioning people to think carefully about the work, expense and inconvenience before one gets a parrot for a pet. I thin the page with the black and white world map could have been color-coordinated to help the child determine the different regions where the various parrots are from.

I think children would love making their own beaks.

Overall, this is a delightful book suitable for young children who love parrots and like a good time.

Author Katherine Rawson writes about parrot behavior and preferences in an amusing, informative way. Sherry Rogers illustrations enhance the text with dramatic scenes showing parrot behavior by painting children with beaks, claws, and the abilities to climb curtains and imitate phones. Young children will have so much fun imitating the parrots and parrot-children in this book. There is even a fact sheet in the back that tells children how to care for a pet parrot. This is a fun book for children ages 3 - 8.

Absolutely fabulous book! This book incorporates personality information along with being a very realistic view of companion parrot care. You are able to get a real sense of what it is really like living with a parrot! My business deals with companion bird owners 100% and I am definitely going to add several copies to our "library" and encourage anyone thinking of getting a bird to read this first - for fun and education.

This book immediately grabbed the attention of my 5-year-old and continued to delight her thoughout the story. She reveled in the adventures of the parrot and learned a thing or two about the birds along the way. The text moves at the perfect pace for the 4-8 year old age group and hits their funny bone just right....the parrot enjoying a popsicle - stick and all, copying the sound of a telephone for a playful trick on the family, and admiring himself in the mirror. It's a book we have enjoyed reading many times, and have recently purchased several copies as gifts. Enjoy!

Thoroughly engaging and delightful!
This book is a riot! The characters and their silly antics are so accurately depicted you instantly bond with these feathery friends . The illustrations truly bring this book to life. They are creative, engaging and warm. The colors are rich, incredibly vibrant and leave you wanting more. There are a lot of parrot facts and details here, yet they are illustrated in such a fun and endearing way, that you end up learning more about these fabulous birds and their behaviors, without it being obvious. One truly gets the feel for what it would be like to be a parrot. I should know, I have five of them including a loveable Nanday! Yes...they do love to cuddle and splash, play tricks and hide. This is a wonderful resource book for your classroom, whether you homeschool, or teach private, or public school. Many key words and phrases are highlighted in big, bold lettering, that can be reviewed later and used as additional spelling, or vocabulary words. There are also several key pages at the end of the book, like the Creative Minds pages filled with fun parrot facts and a bit of geography. Then there are the Make a Beak pages with their cool trace and make parrot beaks. Your kids can make and wear these in class, while they discuss key features in this story, quiz their parrot facts and geography, or brainstorm, write and illustrate their own If You Were A Parrot stories. This story ends with an informative Are You Ready For A Pet Parrot page. Here you will find additional information for the care and keep of parrots. "If You Were a Parrot" is one of the most delightfully illustrated children's books I've ever seen. I wholeheartedly endorse this wonderful, positive book for children of all ages. The interactive project at the end of the book draws children into the story.

This is an imaginative journey into a parrots world. The colorful illustrations are a delight. The children and their antics are great fun!
A great read for elementary school children with the addition of fun and interesting facts about sharing your home with a pet parrot.
