Nothing groundbreaking, sometimes heartbreaking,
By
This review is from: You Who Pretend to Sleep (Audio CD)
3 1/2Familiar, though still uplifting second-tier post rock in the vein of Saxon Shore does what it knows, and for those not completely studied with these soft/loud melodic bag-of-tricks constantly used to diminishing effect in the genre, the disc will be a privilege if not a revelation. Even for all its earnest derivations the band puts together a melodically concrete set of minor triumph.

Headphone Commute Review,
This review is from: You Who Pretend to Sleep (Audio CD)
Recorded at the Art Institute of Seattle, the album saturates instrumental music with emotion. Meeting for the first time as 15 individuals responding to an ad for experimenting with walls of noise, the group evolved into its current concoction of three guitars, a Rhodes and a drum set. Continuing to satisfy my cravings of GSY!BE's innovative sound, Joy Wants Eternity dreams up endless soundscapes that spread in thin layers over the vast horizon of sound. Crafted smarter than emergency flotation devices, this true [post-]post-rock album is guaranteed to bring you to the shores of sanity in case of any unplanned crash landing. For the likes of This Is Your Captain Speaking, This Will Destroy You, and Mono. Favorite track: From Embrace To Embrace
