Being a cranky 60's burnout these days is not a mission that I particularly covet. But, some of us have to do it. Although I count myself lucky to have been blessed with an eclectic taste in and appreciation of good music although there is always room for improvement. I really don't listen enough to Jazz & Classical in order to hone that vibe a bit more. I refuse to turn this into a blog of my current MS.
Stick to the subject- You Win. Theres absolutely no filler in here.. Its all straight up for real "life experiences" put to music. I have not heard any previous discs & I will have to explore that at some point. This work of art pulls at assorted emotional/psychological underpinnings within... and well.. Listen for yourself. Every track tugs you in. Thats out of the ordinary. Well crafted and performed. I especially like when there's female backup in about 4 or 5 tracks in. Cant remember which at the moment. The Cascade Range really makes me want to road trip and have to heed that calling. At any rate, the disc lives in my car changer along with Dylan and Panopticon and other good stuff. Playing with the heavy hitters.

Blessed with one of the most heart wrenchingly beautiful songs I've heard in a while (The Rejection Letter) this album is full of wonderfully evocative lyrics set to very nice, quiet, hooky tunes. This is one that grew on me. I didn't really appreciate it after the first play but decided to que it up while I did a bit of woodworking in the shop. The quiet, contemplative songs wormed their way into my head while I was hand planing a craftsman light and it all just seemed perfect. This is one that will be at the top of the stack for a while...at least until I get their other release: "Fair Store".
This is a good one. Don't miss it.

Listen to the samples. This disc is full of great melodies and hooks. Randy Bickford and company deserve more publicity than they get. As the pros say; solid effort, recommended.
