3.0 out of 5 stars Same exact book as the Down to Earth Cookbook August 22, 2008
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just bought this, thinking that it was a new book of recipes; imagine my surprise when I read inside the book that it was the same book Lacey and Gail released a couple of years ago. As much as I love the recipes I do not require them in duplicate.
The recipes are wonderful, but I am disappointed in the fact that no where in the online book description was it written that the books were the same, simply with different titles and covers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to be delicious August 20, 2008
By Dana
Format:Paperback
I have been a vegan for six months now and this book changed everything! Before this cookbook, I rarely enjoyed cooking. So many times I would try a new recipe, spend a lot of time preparing it and it would turn out to be a disappointment. Not with these recipes. Every recipe I have tried has been outstanding. I have even started trying new recipes with guests because I am confident that it will turn out fabulous. My husband isn't vegan, yet he eats vegan with me whenever I make something from this cookbook. Needless to say, this book has changed the way we eat as a couple. No more making two versions of a dish because the vegan dish isn't flavorful or filling enough for him.

These recipes do take a lot of time to prepare, but they are worth every minute. They use some unusual ingredients, but I have had no trouble finding most of them. Also, almost all of these ingredients are "staples" and used throughout the recipes, so I'm not buying one item for just one recipe.

I believe the greatest testament to veganism is a delicious vegan meal. The recipes made from this book are more effective than any verbal diatribe against meat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Book March 25, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have been vegan for about five years now and often look for recipes that will allow me to create things that my four children and wife will eat. They aren't vegan and often turn their nose up at my tofu creations from other books. However, every recipe I've tried from this book has been a hit. I even took the Tiramisu (pg 190) made with the vanilla cake (pg 187) to my mother in laws house. I often take vegan dishes there and return with them almost in tact, as most people there tend to want their meat. However, this was devoured by everyone except my brother in law who detests coffee.

The tofu scrambles on page 38 are very nice as well, and have quickly replaced scrambled eggs for many in the house, which thrills me to no end. I have noticed some errors in editing, for instance on the page with the scrambles it tells you to see a chef's tip on page 95. You turn to page 95 and there is no tip. It's an introductoin to to the chapter for sandwhiches and wraps. You find the tip it's wanting you to find on page 100.
