Review

Nationally recognized adolescence expert Steinberg revises his 1997 title to include e-issues, extending the end of adolescence from age 20 to 25. The good news is "the horror stories you have heard about adolescence are false," which has been confirmed in much research of late and over time. Dream children do not become rogue teens overnight; parents are not helpless in the face of the peer group; and the "decline of the family" has not doomed our children to despise authority figures. Steinberg reiterates what successful parenting looks like and gives both general guidelines and concrete suggestions, highlighting mistakes parents often make. Adolescence books abound, yet Steinberg should be one of the first go-to titles for parents. Essential.

this is the best book on adolecents that I've read and I've read alot of books on the subject.
This book gives you the facts, no suger coating. It gives you ways to handle situations and what to do if you can't on your own.
It's almost like the what to expect books, but for 10 up to 25. It covers everything you can think of, clearly and well thought out.
Sex, drugs, bullying, school, everything. Everyone should read this book, it is so helpful.

Steinberg is easy to read and easy to understand. This book is a must-have for any parent or professional who works with parents or children/adolescents.

Steinberg exposes what makes adolescents tic and busts many of the myths and stereotypes surrounding adolescence.

The book is broken into sections based on age, development, and issues. It makes it easy to reference for a specific question.

The information in the book is based on thousands of research studies and Steinberg's many years of clinical experience.

Highly recommend this book.
