Lavishly illustrated with color pictures on nearly every page, but there are only 160 pages, with large type and wide spacing. Easy to read, it gives a good background into the development of the Evo with plenty of info to help you improve and enjoy your Evo. Unfortunately, the book is oriented to Evos imported to Britain, which are different from those imported to the U.S. With that, nearly all of the suppliers of modifications for Evos listed at the back of the book are in the UK; not much use for those of us in the US.

My EVO library continues to grow. My latest edition is a new book from Britain: "you and your Mitsubishi Evo". This book was published in Britain in December 2003. It covers all models thru the Evo VIII. Chapters cover the history of the car, how to buy one (very good information about what to look for in a used one), and some simple modifications. The Mitsubishi Evolution is a truly great performance car. Unlike some other cars with sporting pretensions, Mitsubishi treats this one very seriously - every single stage of the evolution of this car has enjoyed major improvements. True, many are of the subtle kind that only true enthusiasts would appreciate. For example, the VIII model swapped it's air conditioning brackets for aluminum ones - saving 30% of the weight of the former steel brackets. Dozens of detail changes like this over the lifetime of the car significantly reduce weight and increase strength. The VIII engine itself has also been improved over it's predecessor with changes to the forged connecting rods and pistons. Continuous improvement like this yields a truly serious performance car, and it's recording details like this that make for interesting reading in this very worthwhile book.
