This requires 3 batteries, not 2. They use a regular AA x3 battery holder though. You gotta be careful to use those 3.7 v batteris instead. and there's nowhere you can buy just 3 of'em. Amazon doesn't sell the optional extra batteries. Otherwise, a great device. works just as it should.

Oh my lord, what a cool little toy. I got the cheaper, 1-35MHz version because I'm trying to leave some financial oomph for getting some actual ham radio gear. Not at all disappointed in the choice, and not at all disappointed in the function of the device. I've been putting a lot of energy lately into designing antennas for that "someday" when I get my ham license, and now I can hook my antenna analyzer to my latest insane creation and actually see all the little dips and peaks of the SWR, and it's very accurate. One of my antennas is a "Small Transmitting Magnetic Loop", which is a very efficient but painfully narrowband antenna, and I had thought that this unit would have a lot of problems giving me any useful data on it. Not so at all - it rarely misses the notchlike resonance even on the 20MHz scan width, and it sweeps so fast that I can actually watch the resonance point move as I tune the antenna. Furthermore, I can see how certain configurations of the antenna feed method affect the depth of the SWR, and I'm hoping to learn how to exploit this and other things to adjust the bandwidth of the antenna. Also, in one evening, the analyzer showed me all I needed to know to learn how to shift the resonance point of my "loop skywire" antenna, so that I can use it to work 20 meters (it was built for 10 meters originally), by loading it with a coil opposite the feedpoint. Pretty brilliant. :-)

The unit is dead simple to use, and seems to be fairly good on the internal batteries. One small tip - don't run it on and on. Turn it on for your measurements and then turn it off. I see a lot of people getting jacked up in their reviews about costly batteries, and I'm like... what?

I should of read the description better. This unit did not come with the battery pack or wall wart. The FG-01A I recently purchased came with battery and charger for a little over $200. Maybe it was on sale, anyway now I need to hunt down batteries for it. My fault but disappointing nun the less. Pay attention to the fine print... Other than that, I really like the little FG-01A so I assume the FG-01 will be just as good.

The best antenna analyzer I have owned so far, it takes just one second to measure the HF antenna resonant freq giving a precise value of swr and impedance, I also the fact that we can program the freqs we will use when checking an antenna.
The only dislike I have is the fact that we have to spend extra on a set of batteries and charger.
Other than that is a great instrument to have in the ham shack.
