My fav. cutz are.....all damn day, my chevy, gift of gab, im in motion, california livin, and youg playah. This is a cd that I can listen to all the tracks without skippin any. Greatest Rapper of all Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!,

If you are a fan of bay area rap, you must own this CD. Mac Dre is the sickest flowwing rapper of all time and he brings it with some of the tightest lyrics. Mac Dre and Khayree create the greatest combination of rapper and producer to ever hit the shelves. If you don't own all the old Young Black Brotha cuts like Ray Luv and Dubee, then you should kill yourself.

what can i say? they just dont make this typa stuff no more. from start to finish, this is a straight classic. this cd is like the anthem for anyone who lives like a playa. if you got any [jive] in your blood, you gonna feel this one, but if youz a hata... well, [dang] it, i dont care what you do. Man, I turn on the radio nowaday and i just wanna put a bullet in it. i generally dont listen to anything released less than 4 years ago unless its hella underground, which is the only place your gonna find any quality raps these days.

Mac Dre is the best rapper in California period!! He can tightly rap on any beat put forth. My favorites: "Young Black Brotha", "Gift 2 Gab", "This is the Mac(RIP)", "2 the double R", screw that, it's ALL tight, every track!!! Here is a mind bender: Mac Dre used to Rap from jail, over the telephone. Persistence Payz!!!

straight game from a true california playa,

This is the first major release from Mac Dre and Khayree (his producer). Mac Dre puts it down like only he can with this album. Track for track of game and get yo money raps. This album also features some prior underground releases that just couldn't be left out of this medley of straight game. Features guest rappers form the Strictly Buisness family. A must have for anybody who's ready to see how the Bay Area (Vallejo to be exact) puts it down.

Mac Dre drops his debut, 1993's Young Black Brotha, now known as a yay area classic, and for good reason. Khayree provides a bangin' backdrop for Mac to drop his rhymes. Lyrically, Dre has a good flow and complements the beats very well, and even though the subject matter deals mostly with hustling, sex, gang life, and survival in the hood, he executes it very well making for a great listen. This album is definitely a soundtrack for life in Cali (especially in the bay). Since his affiliation with the Romper Room Gang in Vallejo, Ca (he references his affiliation many many times here) had him caught up in the system, many of the songs were rapped over the phone in the pen and timed to the beats. His rapping over the phone in joints like "Im N Motion" and others adds well to his street cred. I love the twangy G-Funk of "California Livin'" which gives off a sunny rider vibe. "2 Hard 4 The F----- Radio" is mad ill with another cool rider style funky beat, and ill flows showing why he ain't on the radio dials. Khayree takes time to create one of his great instrumentals in what else "A Piece From Khayree," a nice laid-back guitar ridden beat. He proves here to be a versatile producer, and would be sought after time after time from here on. Another phone rap is on the rider anthem "My Chevy" where he talks about "Chev strikin'" a bay area classic. My only criticism is the annoying "radio" interruption in the middle of "My Chevy," but in the second half, homie Mac Mall comes in to drop some game. If you like fun gangsta rap with bass heavy g-funk and mob beats, this album will NOT disappoint. Mac Dre and Khayree created a cult following for good reason. This album is tailor-made for bay area fans, but anyone on the west coast (or anyone period) will appreciate this banger. Mac Mall's Illegal Business? from 1993 has a similar vibe and is also essential bay area game for ya to bump.

What else can I say? The album is a pure masterpiece. The combination of Mac Dre and genius producer Khayree is just tremendous. I love every single song on the album. Even though some of the best tracks on the album were recorded over the phone while Dre was in the penn, I still can't stop listening to them as well. Everyone knows Bay Area Rap will tell you that this album is a classic (as were the first albums of Ray Luv, Mac Mall, Young Lay and Dubee - the other former Young Black Brotha members). Perfect albums almost never come out these days, and that's a shame. These days, you're glad if 10 out of 15 songs are great, while on this one (and many other westcoast albums in the mid 90's) it's all perfect.
