The version from General Books LLC is scanned in using OCR, and as the publishers website states, there's been no editing to catch errors, there's numerous typos and the book has no illustrations or index. Very poorly formatted and poor quality overall. If you do the "Look Inside" thing, you'll see a message that reads "Just so you know...This view is of the Paperback edition (2007) from BiblioBazaar. The Paperback edition (2010) from General Books LLC that you originally viewed is the one you'll receive if you click the Add to Cart button at left." Reason being that the General Books LLC version is so poorly formatted that if you saw it, you wouldn't even consider buying it. Look for a better edition (The CreateSpace edition is a far better version of this book).

Henty's books are almost uniformly good, especially for younger boys, and they deserve better than the garbage produced by General Books LLC.

As the copyright has come off Henty's books, there are numerous reprints by small publishing companies specialising in Print on Demand versions of these older books. Many of these publishers either do poor quality OCR scanning OR they do a straight scan and produce a facsimile version - some of these are OK, some are very bad. Your best bet when you're looking at these books is to either find a genuine publisher that does a good job (check reviews for there books very carefully as Amazon more often that not associates reviews with the book title rather than the publishers version so you can't be sure the review is actually for the book/publisher you're looking at) or look for an older second hand copy, which, while used, will at least be free of typos and garbage and in a font you can actually read.

First Sentence:
Had any of the boys in the lower forms of Eton in the year 1808, been asked who were the most popular boys of their own age, they would have been almost sure to have answered, without the slightest hesitation, Tom and Peter Scudamore, and yet it is probable that no two boys were more often in disgrace. Read the first page
