From School Library Journal
Grade 5 Up-Excellent full-color photographs, especially the how-to and underwater shots, would be enough reason to add this book to any collection. The text provides a complete description of the sport covering history, fish anatomy, gear and tackle, casting, lures and bait, fly-fishing, bobber fishing, landing your catch, and more. Most of the information refers to common types of fish such as pike, bluegill, and trout but some unusual breeds such as taimen and mahseer are mentioned. The discussions on the how and why of releasing your catch and considerate fishing are of particular interest. Similar in content and level to Tony Whieldon's Fishing (Random, 1994) and Richard Smithsen's Freshwater Fishing (Troll, 1990; o.p.), this title will make a fine addition where this pastime is popular.
