Editorial Reviews

Review

If you are someone who has Alzheimer's disease or someone who is caring for an Alzheimer's patient or if you work in a profession that assists those with Alzheimer's and care giving you MUST read Tracey Mobley's The Broken Road. -- Deborah Uetz - Author of "Into The Mist"

No one can understand the fears or thoughts that go through your head when you are faced with this progressive brain disease. Tracey has put a person, and a life, to the disease and has given us an idea of what we can expect to feel and have happen. -- Tamara Hoops

This book is a must read for anyone in the early stages of this disease. Not only is it imformative but is a book of hope, strength, purpose and inspiration. I also recommend that every caregiver reads this to get insight into what feelings and fears the AD patient goes through. -- Lori Kinney

This is the best book I've read written from the side of the person with alzheimers. After reading this book, I actually hugged the book to my chest. You can't help but feel the pain caused by this cruel disease. I will read this book over again to make sure I didn't miss anything. It should be a "must read" for everyone to help all of us understand what this disease does to everyone. -- J. Lajoy

Tracy gives a clear picture of how cognitive decline can change the little details of life. Her sense of humor and willingness to speak out make her a great advocate for persons with dementia.

The Broken Road is of particular interest to those dealing with Early Onset Alzheimer's or other dementias while raising young children. -- Mona Johnson - The Tangled Neuron

Product Description

This book was written to give others out there hope. There are a lot of books about Alzheimer's Disease that have been written, but there are not too many that are actually written by the person that is suffering from the disease. When I was diagnosed with this horrendous disease in 2002, I wanted to find something that I could do to help others out there that may be struggling just as my family and I have. Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease is much harder to detect partly because of the stigma that surrounds it. But as the environment and our technology progresses forward hopefully our understanding will progress as well. In this book, you will read how the disease affects an individual and their families lives. You will feel the pain and the laughter and I am hoping that what I have written will help to remove the misconception of this disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars You must read this book, June 22, 2007
If you are someone who has Alzheimer's disease or someone who is caring for an Alzheimer's patient or if you work in a profession that assists those with Alzheimer's and care giving you MUST read Tracey Mobley's The Broken Road.

It arrived today and I devoured the book. My father had Alzheimer's or some variation of it, probably Diffuse Lewy Bodies disease. Tracey gave us all a gift, a window into her world and the world of my father.

Before writing this I tried to decide what stood out, aside from her courage, bravery, honesty and sheer guts. What stood out what something she said about the stages of Alzheimer's disease. She asked what it mattered the "stage" someone is in if they have a can function with a fairly good quality of life? Wow. We do get so caught up in trying to figure out what "stage" someone is in. She is right. What does it matter. As Tracey tells us we should live every day...and she does.

Please read this book and pass it along to someone who needs it. Her words may change their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful resource and inspirational book !!!!!!!!!!!!!, June 27, 2007
I could not put this book down, once I started reading it. I am so moved by Tracey's story. She has been so brave and strong while having this disease and is giving all of us who have been diagnosed with early onset alzheimers some first-hand info that no doctor can pass on to us.

No one can understand the fears or thoughts that go through your head when you are faced with this progressive brain disease. Tracey has put a person, and a life, to the disease and has given us an idea of what we can expect to feel and have happen.

The biggest fear is the unknown. I applaud Tracey for sharing her life with us!!!!!! I urge anyone who is diagnosed with this disease or has a loved one diagnosed with it, to purchase this book, and READ IT, STUDY IT, AND, LEARN TO LIVE EACH DAY, as Tracey describes. Each day is a gift we have been given.!!!!!!!!!!! Tracey, you are an inspiration!!!!!!!!!
